Stephanie Murphy said Monday that she would not seek reelection in 2022.<\/p>\n<p>Her coming retirement, first <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2021\/12\/20\/murphy-a-leader-of-house-dem-centrists-wont-seek-reelection-525750\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported<\/a> by Politico, is a blow to Democrats\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/09\/09\/stephanie-murphy-reconciliation-full-bill-artificial-deadline\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">moderate wing<\/a>; Murphy <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2016\/11\/08\/murphy-defeats-mica-in-tight-congressional-race-video\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">flipped<\/a> an Orlando-based GOP seat in 2016 and rose to lead the centrist Blue Dog Coalition.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s been a real honor for me to serve in Congress, but it does come at a personal sacrifice,\u201d Murphy told Politico. \u201cMy time away has been hard on my family and my kids and on me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The third-term congresswoman, a member of the Jan. 6 Select Committee who was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tallahassee.com\/story\/news\/politics\/2021\/05\/17\/stephanie-murphyflorida-battle-lines-marco-rubio-us-senate-challenge-election-2022-midterms\/5127072001\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">rumored<\/a> to potentially challenge Republican Sen.
