At the same time, Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. has been <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/business-new-york-manhattan-donald-trump-cyrus-vance-jr-2a8fb1e013858ed5dd1edf4f7096663a\">conducting<\/a> a criminal <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/05\/19\/tish-james-new-york-attorney-general-criminal-investigation-donald-trump-organization\/\">investigation<\/a> over Trump\u2019s business practices.<\/p>\n<p>The former president\u2019s lawsuit against James <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/06\/01\/donald-trump-jr-new-york-attorney-general-tucker-carlson\/\">accuses<\/a> her of violating his constitutional rights and argues that the attorney general\u2019s \u201cmission is guided solely by political animus.\u201d The lawsuit asks for the investigation to stop.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHer [James\u2019] mission is guided solely by political animus and a desire to harass, intimidate, and retaliate against a private citizen who she views as a political opponent,\u201d the lawsuit reads, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2021\/12\/20\/nyregion\/trump-lawsuit-letitia-james.html?emc=edit_na_20211220&amp;amp;ref=headline&amp;amp;nl=breaking-news\">according<\/a> to The New York Times. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/02\/25\/manhattan-district-attorney-millions-pages-trump-tax-documents\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Manhattan District Attorney Reportedly Obtains Millions Of Pages Of Trump\u2019s Tax Documents Following Supreme Court Decision)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_7340064\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\" readability=\"40\">\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-7340064\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">NEW YORK, NEW YORK \u2013 NOVEMBER 01: State Attorney General and gubernatorial candidate Letitia James speaks during a Get Out the Vote rally at A. Trump\u2019s lawyer Aline Habba, in a statement obtained by CNBC, accused James of targeting the former president \u201cby commencing this partisan investigation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLetitia James targets President Trump with a callous disregard for the ethical and moral obligations she swore to abide by when she became Attorney General,\u201d Habba said. \u201cShe has short changed the state by commencing this partisan investigation and has forever tarnished the sanctity of her office. By filing this lawsuit, we intend to not only hold her accountable for her blatant constitutional violations, but to stop her bitter crusade to punish her political opponent in its tracks.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/07\/01\/manhattan-vance-trump-organization-prosecution-refused-weinstein-epstein\/\">Vance\u2019s<\/a> inquiry is \u201cfocused on some of the same aspects\u201d as <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2020\/12\/01\/whoopi-goldberg-ny-ag-letitia-james-waiting-on-trump\/\">James\u2019<\/a>, NYT noted.
