The Instagram account mentioned in the fake tweet is a fan account.<\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Fact Check:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/permalink.php?story_fbid=213585250956883&amp;id=100069162295317\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Facebook post<\/a> features a tweet purportedly sent by Harris that reads, \u201cWOW! Kyle Rittenhouse just started a new Instagram account called @the.Kyle.Rittenhouse He should be locked up in jail for murder! Go report his account and do not follow him. We can\u2019t let these conservatives win @the.Kyle.Rittenhouse don\u2019t follow.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rittenhouse fatally shot two men and non-fatally shot a third during an Aug. 25, 2020, protest in Kenosha, Wisconsin, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2021\/11\/19\/jury-finds-kyle-rittenhouse-not-guilty-in-kenosha-protest-shootings.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">CNBC<\/a> reported. In November, a jury found Rittenhouse, who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/news\/us-news\/wisconsins-self-defense-law-ensured-kyle-rittenhouses-acquittal-rcna6178\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">argued<\/a> self-defense, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2021\/11\/19\/1057288807\/kyle-rittenhouse-acquitted-all-charges-verdict\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">not guilty<\/a> on all of the charges filed against him in connection to the shootings, video of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=W6m-uAFZ6Yshttps:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=W6m-uAFZ6Ys\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">his trial<\/a> shows.<\/p>\n<p>There is no record of Harris tweeting the statement attributed to her in the Facebook post. An advanced search of her verified Twitter accounts \u2013 @KamalaHarris and @VP \u2013 yielded <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=He%20should%20be%20locked%20up%20in%20jail%20for%20murder!%20(from%3AKamalaHarris%20OR%20from%3AVP)&amp;src=typed_query\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">no matches<\/a> for the statement, and it <a href=\"https:\/\/projects.propublica.org\/politwoops\/user\/KamalaHarris?page=1https:\/\/projects.propublica.org\/politwoops\/user\/KamalaHarris?page=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">does not appear<\/a> in ProPublica\u2019s Politwoops archive of her deleted tweets. The comment is also absent from her other <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/kamalaharris\/?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">social<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/vp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">media<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/page\/24413227922\/search\/?q=Kyle%20Rittenhouse\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">posts<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Instagram account mentioned in the fake tweet, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/the.Kyle.Rittenhouse\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">@the.Kyle.Rittenhouse<\/a>, identifies itself as a fan account in its bio. Rittenhouse\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/kyle-rittenhouse-instagram-disabled-down-reinstated-twitter-1658263\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">actual Instagram account<\/a> has a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/thisiskylerittenhouse\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">different handle<\/a>. <a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2021\/11\/23\/fact-check-rittenhouse-prosecutor-blm-pin\/\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>(RELATED: Did The Prosecutor In The Kyle Rittenhouse Case Wear A Black Lives Matter Pin?)<\/b><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Journalist Mary Spicuzza reported <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/mspicuzzamjs\/status\/1460713309603188736\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">on Twitter<\/a> Nov. 16 that Harris told her that the \u201cfocus should be on the facts and the evidence in the case\u201d and that she was \u201cnot going to comment on either.\u201d On Nov. 19, the date Rittenhouse got acquitted, Harris <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/VP\/status\/1461894567746322434?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">tweeted<\/a>, \u201cToday\u2019s verdict speaks for itself. I\u2019ve spent a majority of my career working to make our criminal justice system more equitable.
