The Fox News host asked Trump whether he would implement a diplomatic boycott of the upcoming Beijing Winter Olympics like the Biden Administration has done.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>Trump <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/sunday-talk-shows\/586487-trump-says-he-would-not-impose-boycott-against-beijing-olympics?rl=1\">replied<\/a>,&nbsp;\u201cNo, because I watched&nbsp;<span class=\"rollover-people\" data-behavior=\"rolloverpeople\"><a class=\"rollover-people-link\" href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/people\/jimmy-carter\" data-nid=\"444051\">Jimmy Carter<\/a><\/span>&nbsp;do it, and it was terrible. It was terrible. It hurts the athletes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are much more powerful things we can do than that, much, much more powerful things. That\u2019s not a powerful thing. It almost makes us look like, I don\u2019t know, sore losers,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Unlike Biden\u2019s so-called \u201cdiplomatic boycott,\u201d Carter\u2019s boycott of the 1980 Moscow Games was complete, including athletes. Biden\u2019s boycott is a token political calculation of no impact whatsoever since the Chinese have not invited our diplomats to attend the games. (Photo by MANDEL NGAN \/ AFP) (Photo by MANDEL NGAN\/AFP via Getty Images)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Instead of a boycott, Trump says he would like to see U.S. athletes attend and \u201cwin every medal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Given Trump\u2019s answer and the differences between Carter and Biden\u2019s boycotts, it\u2019s possible Trump thought he was being asked if he would keep U.S. athletes out of the game.<\/p>\n<p>Trump made the same comments in a recent interview with Breitbart News.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOr go and do a lot of things that are much more severe,\u201d Trump <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/12\/11\/former-president-donald-trump-us-much-weaker-now-under-joe-biden-not-respected-anymore\/\">said<\/a> when asked if he would withdraw the U.S. entirely from the Beijing games. \u201cYou know, you hurt the athletes. Jimmy Carter tried a bigger version of that, and it was a big failure. I think that there are many things we can do that are much more powerful than that. That sends a double signal. It also sends a very negative vibe. No, I don\u2019t think I\u2019d do it. I think it\u2019s unfair to the athletes, and I think it\u2019s unfair in many ways to a lot of other countries. I would not do that. I would do other things that are more powerful than that. But it was done before, and it didn\u2019t work.
