This, as coronavirus fears gradually subside.<\/p>\n<p>Christmas and New Year\u2019s celebrations began in Mexico City\u2019s central square last week. The events featured light shows and an amusement park, which saw thousands of people in attendance. Local artists were also performing Christmas songs as part of the festivities.<\/p>\n<p>Mexico City residents said they\u2019re delighted to be able to go out and enjoy Christmas holidays in public again.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\ud83c\udf84\u2728 Mexico City\u2019s streets were decorated with ice slides, giant Christmas trees, light installations, carousels and amusement parks for the festive season <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/CusOIs8RVg\">pic.twitter.com\/CusOIs8RVg<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Reuters (@Reuters) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Reuters\/status\/1472626533114302466?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 19, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cIt feels great,\u201d said resident, Hector Rodriguez. \u201cAfter almost two years of a sort of confinement, it\u2019s very gratifying to be able to enjoy the freedom that we Mexicans previously had.
