Greg Abbott (R-Texas) announced Texas is making great progress with the southern border wall in the Rio Grande Valley. On Saturday, Abbott shared some remarks about Joe Biden, illegal immigration and the border wall construction during a press briefing.<\/p>\n<p>In June, Abbott directed the Texas Facilities Commission to start building the border wall. He authorized $3 billion in funding for the efforts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTexas is taking what truly is unprecedented action\u2026a state to build a wall on our border, to safeguard the sovereignty of our state and of our nation,\u201d Abbott said during his press conference.<\/p>\n<p>Also during the press conference, Abbott discussed the fentanyl crisis at the southern border.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The Texas border wall is officially up.<\/p>\n<p>While Biden does nothing, we are stepping up to protect our communities.<\/p>\n<p>The Lone Star State is securing the border. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/oYuY4zYLQl\">pic.twitter.com\/oYuY4zYLQl<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Greg Abbott (@GregAbbott_TX) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GregAbbott_TX\/status\/1472307366297223170?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 18, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cAnd we\u2019re seeing something devastating that the Biden administration is not doing enough to respond and that is the enormous amount of the deadly drug, fentanyl, that\u2019s coming across our border. Two milligrams of fentanyl is a deadly dose.
