Local media outlet KentOnline also&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kentonline.co.uk\/dover\/news\/channel-crossings-continue-259325\/\">reported<\/a> that \u201clarge numbers of people\u201d had been brought ashore at the port town of Dover, while Sky News <a href=\"https:\/\/news.sky.com\/story\/migrant-crisis-crossings-continue-despite-channel-tragedy-as-high-tech-spotter-plane-joins-search-efforts-12497684\">reported<\/a>&nbsp;yesterday that \u201cplenty\u201d of boats are still leaving French shores \u2014 these reports coming after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2021\/12\/16\/france-closes-border-to-uk-meanwhile-channel-migrant-crisis-rages-on\/\">weeks of relative silence<\/a> from the press on migrant landings.<\/p>\n<p>It has been estimated that over <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2021\/11\/14\/outgoing-uk-border-force-chief-says-borders-are-a-pain-in-the-bloody-a-report\/\">23,500 illegal migrants<\/a> have made the crossing this year, with actual numbers most likely being higher as not everyone who crosses is caught.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>Farage has&nbsp;suggested&nbsp;migration was a major worry for voters in the North Shropshire by-election which resulted in an embarrassing defeat for Conservatives, who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2021\/12\/17\/another-blow-for-boris-conservatives-lose-ultra-safe-north-shropshire-seat-in-special-election\/\">lost the seat<\/a> that they held for nearly 200 years to the Liberal Democrats.<\/p>\n<p>Reports surfaced that it cost the British taxpayer an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2021\/09\/02\/cost-of-housing-asylum-seekers-jumps-to-1-4-billion-in-britain\/\">estimated \u00a31.4 billion<\/a>&nbsp;last year to accommodate illegal crucially in the Red Wall, and these are areas of voters who\u2019ve normally been Labour,\u201d Mr Farage said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTaking back control of our borders, reducing the numbers [of migrants] coming into Britain was the reason [historical Labour voters] voted Brexit, the reason they were happy to vote for the Conservatives in 2o19, and I promise you this issue is going right to the top of British politics.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>The Conservative Party\u2019s once 80-seat majority won in 2019 was in large part delivered by former \u2018Red Wall\u2019 voters&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2019\/12\/13\/collapse-red-wall-labour-voters-backed-conservatives\/\">choosing to vote<\/a> Conservative, some for the first time ever.<\/p>\n<p>The \u2018Red Wall\u2019 refers to industrial areas of Britain, that were once home to coal mines, steel plants, and manufacturing, largely in the North of England,&nbsp;were where the working-class voters typically supported Labour \u2014 whose traditional colour is red.<\/p>\n<p>These regions are similar to the so-called \u2018Rust Belt\u2019 in the United States.<\/p>\n<p>Immigration is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.migrationwatchuk.org\/news\/2020\/09\/07\/red-wall-constituents-oppose-governments-immigration-proposals\">particularly important<\/a> to Red Wall voters as their communities were disproportionately affected by the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-3466485\/How-Blair-cynically-let-two-million-migrants-Explosive-biography-reveals-PM-s-conspiracy-silence-immigration-debate.html\">\u201cunprecedented influx\u201d<\/a> of migrants orchestrated by Tony Blair in the late \u201990s and 2000s, which has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2021\/04\/17\/uk-office-for-national-statistics-estimates-net-immigration-increased-282000\/\">continued largely unabated<\/a> under the solution to ending \u201chuge numbers of young men\u201d coming into Britain is to introduce an Australia-style migration system.<\/p>\n<p>In 2013, former Australian prime minister Tony Abbott\u2019s government launched&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2017\/02\/08\/operation-sovereign-borders-900-days-migrant-boat-australia\/\"><span class=\"s2\">Operation Sovereign Borders<\/span><\/a>, under which migrant boats are intercepted at sea and either brought to offshore processing centres or returned to their country of origin.
