Mark Zuckerberg\u2019s internet giant is plainly interested in targeting rival platforms as \u201cinspiration\u201d for future features, a favorite strategy of Facebook enabled by its massive power over the market.<\/p>\n<p>Business Insider <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/leaked-docs-facebook-papers-instagram-competition-tiktok-youtube-snapchat-2021-12?op=1&amp;utm_source=reddit.com&amp;utm_source=reddit.com&amp;r=US&amp;IR=T\">reports<\/a>&nbsp;that leaked internal documents included in the Facebook Papers release provide insight into the tech giant\u2019s thoughts on its rivals. While TikTok is a major concern for the platform, other platforms such as YouTube and Snapchat are still very much considered a threat by the tech giant, while less obvious competing platforms like Slack, Discord, and even mobile texting were also mentioned by the company.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>A slide in a document titled:&nbsp;\u201cThe Power of Identities: Why Teens and Young Adults Choose Instagram,\u201d reads:&nbsp;\u201cNone of the Family of Apps is the preferred way of communicating with best friends.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>One leaked presentation titled \u201cReels vs. TikTok\u201d pits Instagram\u2019s Reel feature against TikTok and very openly states:&nbsp;\u201cTikTok is more appealing than Reels due to better relevance and deeper engagement experience.\u201d The document further notes how TikTok is \u201cnot just fun more fun, it\u2019s funny,\u201d noting that TikTok gives users a feed filled with comedic content.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the documents from early 2021 mention platforms like Discord and Twitch as potential competitors, both of which are heavily focused on the online gaming market. Facebook appears to be attempting to expand in this market, focusing on virtual reality and games designed for the metaverse and could use platforms such as Twitch for \u201cinspiration\u201d for future products.<\/p>\n<p>In October, a Meta spokesperson commented on the Facebook Papers, stating:&nbsp;\u201cThese documents demonstrate what we\u2019ve been saying for a long time \u2014 that we operate in a highly competitive space.
