(AP Photo\/Eric Risberg, File)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h5>OAN Newsroom<br \/>UPDATED 12:49 PM PT \u2013 Thursday, December 16, 2021<\/h5>\n<p>San Francisco, California Mayor London Breed reversed her push to defund the police following a surge in crime in the Democrat-run city.<\/p>\n<p>During a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=wFolcZzGLy4\">press conference<\/a> Tuesday, Breed called for more aggressive policing despite reportedly cutting $120 million from San Francisco\u2019s police and sheriffs departments budget.<\/p>\n<p>This comes as the city has seen an uptick in crime, including several smash and grab robberies, a substantial increase in car break-in and spike in auto burglaries.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><strong>\u201cOur officers are committed to doing their work and are committed to keeping us safe, but everything they\u2019ve been doing over the recent months and everything we\u2019re going to ask of them in the coming months before we pass a new budget is going to require more overtime funding and it\u2019s going to require more police officers,\u201d Breed explained.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">We need to change course on how we handle public safety in San Francisco.
