It appears to be fabricated.<\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Fact Check:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/joy.ranford.77\/posts\/960303574834670\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">image<\/a> of the purported BBC News article has been circulating on social media websites in recent days. In the alleged article, the byline lists \u201cShillus Pfizerius,\u201d supposedly a health and science correspondent, as the author, and a \u201ccoronavirus pandemic\u201d topic button appears beneath it.<\/p>\n<p>There is, however, no record&nbsp;of BBC News publishing an article with that headline. A search of the media organization\u2019s website <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/search?q=blood+clots+heart+attacks+video+games&amp;page=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">didn\u2019t turn up<\/a> any matching stories. The supposed article also cannot be found on BBC News\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=%E2%80%9CExperts%20say%20that%20the%20cause%20of%20rising%20cases%20of%20heart%20attacks%20and%20blood%20clots%20are%20VIDEO%20GAMES%E2%80%9D%20(from%3ABBCWorld%2C%20OR%20from%3ABBCNews%2C)&amp;src=typed_query&amp;f=top\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">verified Twitter accounts<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/page\/228735667216\/search\/?q=blood%20clots%20video%20games\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Facebook<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/page\/81395234664\/search\/?q=blood%20clots%20video%20gameshttps:\/\/www.facebook.com\/page\/81395234664\/search\/?q=blood%20clots%20video%20games\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">pages<\/a>. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2021\/04\/30\/fact-check-bbc-air-chyron-reporting-bobi-wine-ugandas-president\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Did The BBC Air This Chyron Reporting Bobi Wine Will Be Sworn In As Uganda\u2019s President?)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, there is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/search?q=shillus+pfizerius&amp;page=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">no BBC News health and science correspondent<\/a> named \u201cShillus Pfizerius.\u201d The byline in the fake article is likely meant to be a play on \u201cshill\u201d and \u201cPfizer,\u201d a pharmaceutical company that developed a COVID-19 vaccine that received <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fda.gov\/news-events\/press-announcements\/fda-approves-first-covid-19-vaccine\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">FDA approval<\/a> for people ages 16 and up. The mentions of heart attacks and blood clots in the fabricated headline may be a reference to the rare cases of people developing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mayoclinic.org\/diseases-conditions\/myocarditis\/symptoms-causes\/syc-20352539\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">myocarditis<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mayoclinic.org\/diseases-conditions\/pericarditis\/symptoms-causes\/syc-20352510#:~:text=Pericarditis%20is%20swelling%20and%20irritation,pericardium%20rub%20against%20each%20other.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">pericarditis<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/mvec.mcri.edu.au\/references\/thrombosis-with-thrombocytopenia-syndrome\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">thrombosis with thrombocytopenia syndrome<\/a> after COVID-19 vaccination.<\/p>\n<p>The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/coronavirus\/2019-ncov\/vaccines\/safety\/adverse-events.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">states<\/a> on its website that \u201cmyocarditis and pericarditis after COVID-19 vaccination are rare\u201d and that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/coronavirus\/2019-ncov\/vaccines\/safety\/myocarditis.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">most patients<\/a> \u201cwith myocarditis or pericarditis who received care responded well to medicine and rest and felt better quickly.\u201d The CDC <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/coronavirus\/2019-ncov\/vaccines\/safety\/JJUpdate.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">also notes<\/a> that Johnson &amp; Johnson\u2019s Janssen COVID-19 vaccine has a \u201crare risk of blood clots with low platelets after vaccination\u201d for adult women under 50, but that the benefits of being vaccinated outweigh the risks.<\/p>\n<p>Over 202.8 million people in the U.S. have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as of Wednesday, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/covid.cdc.gov\/covid-data-tracker\/#vaccinations_vacc-people-onedose-pop-5yr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">data<\/a> from the CDC.
