Marco Rubio, targets slave labor in Xinjiang and surrounding provinces, where China is conducting a genocide of the Uyghur people. It <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/12\/14\/house-senate-come-to-agreement-on-uyghur-forced-labor-bill-after-reports-of-biden-administration-opposition\/\">passed<\/a> the House by voice vote Tuesday and is expected to be signed into law by President Joe Biden.<\/p>\n<p>The Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act creates a \u201crebuttable presumption\u201d that goods produced in Xinjiang or by certain listed Chinese business entities are produced by the forced labor of Uyghurs or other ethnic minorities. Companies may continue to import products from Xinjiang if they provide \u201cclear and convincing evidence\u201d to the Commissioner of Customs and Border Protection that their supply chains do not include forced labor.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" readability=\"9.2814371257485\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Senate?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Senate<\/a> update: Sen Rubio achieved passage of his bill on Uyghur forced labor by UC.<br \/>This also set up 3 confirmation votes at 430:<br \/>1 Nicholas Burns to be ambassador to China<br \/>2 Ramin Toloui to be an Asst Sec of State<br \/>3 Rashad Hussain to be Ambassador<br \/>for Intl Religious Freedom<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Senate Press Gallery (@SenatePress) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SenatePress\/status\/1471545336804122633?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 16, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s already illegal, by the way, to bring goods made with slave labor; it\u2019s been that way since the 1930s. And yet it\u2019s still happening,\u201d Rubio said on the Senate floor. \u201cMany companies have already taken steps to clean up their supply chains. And, frankly, they should have no concerns about this law. For those who have not done that, they\u2019ll no longer be able to continue to make Americans \u2014 every one of us, frankly \u2014 unwitting accomplices in the atrocities, in the genocide that\u2019s being committed by the Chinese Communist Party.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The bill\u2019s passage was thrown into doubt on multiple occasions. First, the White House reportedly lobbied Oregon Sen. Jeff Merkley, the lead Democratic co-sponsor, to slow the bill down. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer later removed the bill from the National Defense Authorization Act.<\/p>\n<p>When the bill finally came to the Senate floor Wednesday night, Democratic Oregon Sen. Ron Wyden <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/12\/15\/ron-wyden-blocks-uyghur-slave-labor-bill-child-tax-credit\/\">objected<\/a> to its passage, demanding a vote on the American Rescue Plan\u2019s expanded child tax credit, which is due to expire. Wyden later announced that he would not object to the bill\u2019s passage twice. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/12\/16\/nike-democrat-oregon-ron-wyden-uyghur-forced-labor-prevention-act\/\">(RELATED: Nike Executives Funneled Money To Democrat Who Just Blocked Uyghur Forced Labor Bill)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The bill\u2019s passage unlocks three votes to confirm Biden nominees to key State Department positions. Rubio and Democratic Connecticut Sen.
