Most recently, the 41-year-old reality star had a conversation with journalist <a href=\"https:\/\/bariweiss.substack.com\/p\/my-conversation-with-kim-kardashian\">Bari Weiss<\/a> about the pitfalls of cancel culture and why she regrets asking Kanye West to remove his red MAGA hat.<\/p>\n<p>Weiss brought up the 2018 SNL appearance when <a href=\"https:\/\/dailywire.com\/news\/kanye-west-issues-public-apology-to-wife-kim-kardashian-i-know-i-hurt-you\/\">West<\/a> got slammed for wearing a MAGA hat, and <a href=\"https:\/\/dailywire.com\/news\/social-media-accuses-kim-kardashian-of-cultural-appropriation-again\/\">Kardashian<\/a> explained how her feelings on the incident have changed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was very nervous. I didn\u2019t want him to wear the red hat,\u201d the \u201cKeeping Up With the Kardashians\u201d alum admitted. \u201cI\u2019m not really a rule breaker, so my personality would be like, \u2018OK, you guys don\u2019t like the red hat? I\u2019ll take it off.\u2019 I remember other people were around and it became a thing where he wasn\u2019t going to go on because he wanted to be who he is.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She went on, saying she encouraged her then-husband to take off his hat.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m very neutral, but that night I was very forceful with him, and argued with him like, \u2018You have to take that hat off.\u2019 And now looking back, I think, why should he take that off if that\u2019s what he believes in? Why can\u2019t he wear that on TV? Half of the country voted for [Trump], so clearly other people like him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Later, the KKW founder shared how the experience helped her clarify her feelings on cancel culture in general, which she called \u201cthe most ridiculous thing.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI learned a lot from that situation,\u201d Kardashian told Weiss. \u201cNo matter what, it taught me to be a little bit more empathetic for people that just want to do what they want to do: freedom of speech! And if you want to wear the hat, wear the hat.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She continued with some words of praise for her ex. \u201cI respect the fact that [West] knew exactly what he believed in and always stood by that. To me, that\u2019s a good quality to have, no matter who is against you and no matter what the circumstances are. I think that it\u2019s just admirable and it\u2019s just a really cool quality. Even if it\u2019s not what I agree with, or even if I would have done it differently, I think it\u2019s commendable.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kardashian publicly supported Hillary Clinton during the 2016 presidential election while West was firmly on team Trump. But later when Trump won, the reality star worked with his administration on issues she cared about, including criminal justice reform.<\/p>\n<p>Weiss also asked the \u201cKeeping Up With the Kardashians\u201d star about how she handled the negativity from other celebrities and fans after working with President Trump on the bipartisan First Step Act. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI really don\u2019t care about the criticism,\u201d Kardashian said. \u201cI mean, my reputation over someone\u2019s life? Destroy me then. I really don\u2019t care. It was not even an option.
