Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) on Thursday wrecked President Biden\u2019s hopes of destroying federal election integrity laws, causing Democrats to panic heading into the 2022 midterms.<\/p>\n<p>While Biden on Wednesday was forced to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/12\/15\/report-1-9-trillion-reconciliation-package-dead-until-2022-biden-manchin-not-close-to-a-deal\/\">shelve<\/a> his massive tax and spend package until next year because of Sen. Joe Manchin\u2019s (D-WV) opposition, Biden immediately pivoted to enact his second priority of altering election integrity laws, such as doing away with popular voter ID constraints.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<div id=\"attachment_19147578\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\" readability=\"33\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/joe-biden-joe-manchin-getty.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-19147578\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/joe-biden-joe-manchin-getty.jpg\" alt width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Sen. Joe Manchin (Photo by Al Drago-Pool\/Getty Images) and U.S. President Joe Biden (Drew Angerer\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cIf we can get the congressional voting rights done, we should do it. \u2026 There\u2019s nothing domestically more important than voting rights,\u201d Biden said.<\/p>\n<p>But Sinema singlehandedly burst Biden\u2019s desperate attempt to weaken election integrity laws Wednesday evening by stating she will protect the 60-vote filibuster threshold. Fifty Senate votes are needed to trash the filibuster. If the filibuster is terminated, a simple majority vote could be held to destroy election laws.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>To lure&nbsp;Sinema into destroying election laws, Democrats have watered down their original H.R.1 proposal. Yet&nbsp;Sinema\u2019s spokesman&nbsp;John LaBombard&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2021\/12\/15\/sinema-democrats-filibuster-changes-524809?nname=playbook&amp;nid=0000014f-1646-d88f-a1cf-5f46b7bd0000&amp;nrid=0000014e-f103-dd93-ad7f-f9073ad50000&amp;nlid=630318\">told<\/a> <em>Politico<\/em>&nbsp;she will protect the filibuster\u2019s bipartisan standard and ultimately election integrity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe continues to support the Senate\u2019s 60-vote threshold, to protect the country from repeated radical reversals in federal policy which would cement uncertainty, deepen divisions, and further erode Americans\u2019 confidence in our government,\u201d LaBombard said.<\/p>\n<p>Sinema\u2019s spokesman also implied that Sinema may be interested in the watered down \u201cvoting rights\u201d proposal if it garnered bipartisan support above the&nbsp;filibuster\u2019s threshold.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSenator Sinema has asked those who want to weaken or eliminate the filibuster to pass voting rights legislation which she supports if it would be good for our country to do so,\u201d LaBombard said.<\/p>\n<p>Sinema\u2019s position has caused congressional Democrats concern that 2020\u2019s pandemic-centric election laws will not be applied in 2022, such as voting by mail and other weakened measures. Temporary 2020 elections laws reverting back to pre-pandemic rules likely reduce the Democrats\u2019 ability to win elections.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t want to become too dramatic,\u201d Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (D-MO) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2021\/12\/16\/biden-voting-rights-push-525061\">told<\/a> <em>Politico&nbsp;<\/em>on Thursday, \u201cbut voting rights may be the only thing we have to at least halt the trek away from democracy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rep. James Clyburn (D-SC) also voiced concerns&nbsp;that if election integrity laws are reinstated before the 2022 midterms, America\u2019s democratic republic will no longer exist.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t want it to be constrained by trying to do it before the end of the year. I don\u2019t know that you have to do it before the end of the year,\u201d Clyburn told <em>Politico<\/em>. \u201cI just want us to get a bill done that will help preserve this democracy because if we don\u2019t, I think we\u2019ve lost this democracy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rep. Anthony Brown (D-MD) echoed Clyburn\u2019s urgency. \u201cI want to see Biden start running people in and out of the White House,\u201d Brown said. \u201cI want to start by seeing the president using the full leverage of his office.
