Fully vaccinated individuals who meet indoors regularly in places like gyms, offices, or college classes will be able to take off their masks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis refinement acknowledges the hard work of the people of San Francisco throughout the pandemic, including the ways in which we have maintained reasonable protections heading into the holiday season,\u201d the San Francisco Department of Public health added.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>Local business owners celebrated the state\u2019s exemption. \u201cThe San Francisco Independent Fitness Studio Coalition couldn\u2019t be more pleased with the receding of the state mask order,\u201d&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sfchronicle.com\/bayarea\/article\/Latest-mask-mandate-a-test-of-emotional-16702386.php\">said<\/a>&nbsp;Dave Karraker, co-owner of a San Francisco gym. \u201cTo have any disruption at all in the progress we\u2019ve made over the last year and a half in getting customers back would have been devastating.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, Newsom reimposed a statewide indoor mask mandate, regardless of vaccination status, through the holiday season until January 15. The order came amid fears of the omicron variant of the coronavirus, which California has 24&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sfchronicle.com\/bayarea\/article\/California-to-reimpose-statewide-indoor-mask-16699120.php\">reported<\/a>&nbsp;cases.<\/p>\n<p>This move targets California cities and counties that ended their mask mandates after Newsom lifted the requirements in June. (AP Photo\/Evan Vucci)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Dr. Mark Ghaly, California\u2019s Health and Human Services Secretary, recognized that certain municipalities would not comply with the latest wave of mandates.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe know that there\u2019s going to be people who don\u2019t necessarily agree with this, who are tired, who aren\u2019t going to mask.
