Before joining NBC, Tafoya worked for ABC\/ESPN, joining the network in 2000 and working as a sideline reporter for \u201cMonday Night Football\u201d beginning in 2006.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Post is reporting that the decision is Tafoya\u2019s.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>She has not been seen on the sidelines since the NFL\u2019s Thanksgiving Day games, missing three consecutive broadcasts, which NBC said were due \u201cbye weeks\u201d given to reporters.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The news comes over a month after Tafoya\u2019s November 2nd appearance on \u201cThe View,\u201d in which she said there were \u201ctwo sides\u201d to the Colin Kaepernick story following the release of his documentary \u201cColin in Black and White.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the series, Kaepernick compared the NFL Combine to the slave trade.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo one pressures them, they\u2019re not forced to go into the NFL,\u201d Tafoya <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=5YefrFiql7I\">said<\/a>. \u201cI\u2019ve been covering the NFL for 25 years. Nobody forces these guys to play \u2026 I give Colin all the credit in the world for taking a stand and I support free speech 1000%. But I thought comparing it to the slave trade was a little rough. It did the trick, it got a lot of attention about this special.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut these guys enter willingly \u2026 And every one of them, black, white, latino, will tell you how much they love it,\u201d Tafoya continued. \u201cAnd they\u2019re willing to do it, and they make a damn good living.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The hosts of \u201cThe View\u201d went on to discuss how they felt that owners have \u201ccolluded\u201d to keep Kaepernick out of football.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI just want to give the benefit of the doubt to some people that there are two sides to the story. I think all of us can agree that there is probably a lot to this story we still don\u2019t know,\u201d Tafoya said.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou\u2019re all going to groan at me. Bring it on,\u201d Tafoya said to the audience as they reacted to her statements on Kaepernick.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Tafoya is the second major sports analyst to leave her job this year, with ESPN and NBA reporter Rachel Nichols parting ways in August.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Nichols found herself in hot water after a conversation between herself and longtime LeBron James advisor Adam Mendelsohn was inadvertently recorded and leaked. The conversation took place in Nichols\u2019 hotel room in Orlando, Florida, while in the NBA bubble, where the 2020 NBA Playoffs were taking place. Nichols had recently been informed by management that she would not be hosting ESPN\u2019s pregame and postgame shows for the NBA Finals. Taylor \u2014 who is black \u2014 would be given the assignment.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI wish Maria Taylor all the success in the world \u2014 she covers football, she covers basketball,\u201d Nichols <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2021\/07\/04\/sports\/basketball\/espn-rachel-nichols-maria-taylor.html\">said<\/a> on July 13, 2020. \u201cIf you need to give her more things to do because you are feeling pressure about your crappy longtime record on diversity \u2014 which, by the way, I know personally from the female side of it \u2014 like, go for it. Just find it somewhere else. You are not going to find it from me or taking my thing away.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI just want them to go somewhere else \u2014 it\u2019s in my contract, by the way; this job is in my contract in writing.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>After issuing a public apology, Nichols\u2019 show \u201cThe Jump\u201d was cancelled and ESPN announced that she would no longer be part of ESPN\u2019s NBA coverage moving forward.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe mutually agreed that this approach regarding our NBA coverage was best for all concerned,\u201d ESPN Senior VP\/Production David Roberts <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsbusinessjournal.com\/Daily\/Closing-Bell\/2021\/08\/25\/Rachel-Nichols.aspx?ana=register_free_form_2_filled\">said<\/a> in a statement. \u201cRachel is an excellent reporter, host and journalist, and we thank her for her many contributions to our NBA content.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Joe Morgan is the Sports Reporter for The Daily Wire.
