Despite the Democrat push to extend it, the Biden administration confirmed federal student loan payments will resume on February 1.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Millions of young people will soon have to begin making student loan payments again.<\/p>\n<p>Payments they cannot afford.<\/p>\n<p>We need to continue the freeze on repayments until the pandemic is over. <\/p>\n<p>Better yet, we should cancel $50,000 in debt for every student.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Adam Schiff (@RepAdamSchiff) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RepAdamSchiff\/status\/1471149976667500551?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 15, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>During a press briefing, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said 41 million borrowers have benefited from the pause and that they will release more details in the coming weeks about their plans.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA smooth transition back into repayment is a high priority for the administration, the Department of Education is already communicating with borrowers to help them prepare for return to repayment on February 1 and has secured contract extensions with loan servicer,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">If the student loan payments pause isn&#8217;t extended, borrowers will be slammed with hundreds of dollars a month in payments. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/POTUS?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@POTUS<\/a> can fix this and <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/CancelStudentDebt?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#CancelStudentDebt<\/a> with the stroke of a pen.
