The top picture shows the Trans-Amazonian Highway in Brazil, while the bottom photo shows the Mpigi-Kanoni Road in Uganda.<\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Fact Check:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Uganda and the neighboring Democratic Republic of the Congo are currently working together to build hundreds of kilometers of roads to better connect the two countries in a project known as the \u201cRegional Connectivity Roads Project,\u201d&nbsp;according to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.globalconstructionreview.com\/uganda-launches-330m-road-building-plan-in-democratic-republic-of-congo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Global Construction Review<\/a> article. Dott Services, a Ugandan construction company, began work on the $330 million project earlier this year, the outlet <a href=\"https:\/\/www.globalconstructionreview.com\/uganda-and-drc-begin-work-tremendous-road-building\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A post shared on Facebook claims the partnership is already producing results. It features two photos, one of a dirt road crowded with vehicles, the other showing a paved road complete with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aarp.org\/auto\/driver-safety\/info-2020\/pavement-markings-explained.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">pavement markings<\/a>.&nbsp;\u201cDR Congo Roads before Uganda\u2019s intervention vs soon after its intervention. #freshtvupdates,\u201d reads the post\u2019s caption. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2021\/01\/16\/fact-check-young-people-stopping-police-ballot-box-uganda\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Does This Photo Show Young People Stopping A Police Officer From Stealing A Ballot Box During Uganda\u2019s 2021 Presidential Election?)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Through reverse image searches, however, Check Your Fact discovered neither photo shows roads in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The first picture, showing the dirt road, was first shared in 2010 on the website <a href=\"https:\/\/izismile.com\/2010\/06\/07\/another_very_bad_road_situated_in_brazil_65_pics.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Izismile.com<\/a> along with a description that explains it shows the Trans-Amazonian Highway in Brazil, which is nearly 4,000 kilometers and only partly paved, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/travel\/article\/20141028-the-road-transforming-the-amazon\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">BBC<\/a>. The images shared on Izismile.com match photos of the highway included in the BBC article. The image shared on Facebook is also featured in an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amusingplanet.com\/2014\/11\/the-trans-amazonian-highway-ecological.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Amusing Planet<\/a> article about the Brazilian highway.<\/p>\n<p>The second photo, the one showing the paved road, was <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/unra_ug\/status\/1168817955364360192\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">shared<\/a> by the verified Twitter account for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unra.go.ug\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Uganda National Roads Authority<\/a>&nbsp;in 2019 with a caption that explains it is the Mpigi-Kanoni Road in Uganda.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" readability=\"12.688953488372\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">\ud83d\udcf8COMPLETE: Mpigi\u2014Kanoni road project [65km] is now at 100%.<\/p>\n<p>Traverses districts of Mpigi, Butambala &amp; Gomba.
