Ron DeSantis (R) on Wednesday announced what his office branded a \u201cfirst of its kind in the nation\u201d legislation to combat both woke corporations and Marxist ideologies such as Critical Race Theory (CRT) in schools and places of employment across the Sunshine State.<\/p>\n<p>In the past, Gov. DeSantis has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/05\/21\/desantis-vows-action-on-critical-race-theory-offensive-to-ask-taxpayers-to-fund-teaching-kids-to-hate-their-country\/\">targeted<\/a> Critical Race Theory, vowing to take action against the divisive Marxist ideology, which urges children to view everything through the lens of race.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s also based on false history when they try to look back and denigrate the Founding Fathers, denigrate the American Revolution, doing all these different things that even very liberal historians say is not supported by the facts,\u201d the governor said during a press conference in Pensacola in May, adding that civics should be a priority and must be \u201ctaught accurately.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt needs to be taught in a fact-based way. (ANDREW CABALLERO-REYNOLDS\/AFP via Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>In June, the Florida Department of Education <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/06\/10\/florida-board-education-adopts-rule-banning-critical-race-theory\/\">approved<\/a> a proposal effectively banning Critical Race Theory and content inspired by the divisive ideology from being taught in schools. The rule specifically prohibits educators from indoctrinating or persuading students \u201cto a particular point of view.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>However, DeSantis does not believe that the action should end there, as CRT is also embraced in \u201ccorporate boardrooms and employee trainings at some of America\u2019s most powerful corporations,\u201d which assert that the U.S. is a country dominated by white supremacy.<\/p>\n<p>This is why DeSantis is proposing the&nbsp;Stop Wrongs to Our Kids and Employees Act (Stop W.O.K.E Act), dubbed the \u201cfirst legislation of its kind in the nation, going on the offense against both corporate wokeness and critical race theory in our schools,\u201d according to the governor\u2019s office.<\/p>\n<p>The legislation would protect employees, teachers and school staff, and ultimately students and families, he announced on Wednesday during a press conference in Wildwood.<\/p>\n<p>Under the legislation, CRT training would be considered an \u201cunlawful employment practice,\u201d making it \u201cclear that corporations and public sector employers violate the Florida Civil Rights Act when they subject their employees to training that espouses race or sex stereotyping or scapegoating including critical race theory.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It also considers CRT discriminatory in the realm of education, stopping what his office describes as&nbsp;\u201cindoctrination in the guise of professional development, and requires districts and schools to adhere to professional development frameworks consistent with Florida\u2019s lawful and publicly adopted state standards.\u201d The measure would also solidify the Florida Board of Education\u2019s previous actions, making them law \u201cto guard students against indoctrinating curriculum.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_16459112\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\" readability=\"38\"><a href=\"https:\/\/media.breitbart.com\/media\/2021\/05\/wi\/ap\/04\/education-florida-florida-gov-ron-desantis-center-speaks-news-conference-at-west-miami-middle-school.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-16459112\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/education-florida-florida-gov-ron-desantis-center-speaks-news-conference-at-west-miami-middle-school-1024x711-1.jpg\" alt=\"The Associated Press\" width=\"647\" height=\"449\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Florida Gov. Ocner\/Miami Herald via AP)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Additionally, the Stop WOKE Act:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<ul>\n<li>Gives employees a clearer path to a private cause of action against discrimination in the workplace;<\/li>\n<li>Improves a private cause of action for parents and students against indoctrinating practices K-20;<\/li>\n<li>Protects teachers who are trying to do the right thing and pushing back against unlawful mandates from their elected district leadership; and<\/li>\n<li>Gives the State Board of Education enforcement authority in K-12 settings.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s based on historical falsehoods,\u201d DeSantis <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/05\/25\/desantis-doubles-down-critical-race-theory-schools-based-historical-falsehoods\/\">said<\/a> of CRT earlier this year, noting that it is \u201coffensive\u201d to have taxpayers fund the teaching of the dark, divisive, and false ideology.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI mean, first of all, it\u2019s offensive \u2014 here we are celebrating tax savings \u2014 it\u2019s offensive to the taxpayer that they would be asked to fund critical race theory,\u201d DeSantis said at the time, adding that they are essentially being asked to \u201cfund teaching kids to hate their country and to hate each other.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>WILDWOOD, Florida \u2014 Florida Gov.
