Andrew Cuomo (D) to refund his publisher $5.1 million from his book deal on coronavirus leadership.<\/p>\n<p>Cuomo published the book,&nbsp;\u201cAmerican Crisis: Leadership Lessons From the Covid-19 Pandemic,\u201d during the coronavirus pandemic while his administration reportedly&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/health\/2021\/02\/11\/andrew-cuomos-aide-admits-ny-hid-covid-19-nursing-home-deaths-to-avoid-federal-investigation\/\">covered up<\/a> thousands of coronavirus nursing home deaths.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>The Joint Commission on Public Ethics (JCOPE) voted 12-1 for Cuomo to return the book\u2019s proceeds to his publisher. From October 2020 to August 2021,&nbsp;Cuomo\u2019s book reached little success, only selling fewer than 50,000 copies.<\/p>\n<p>According to JCOPE\u2019s voted upon resolution, the watchdog decided Cuomo must hand over the compensation money to&nbsp;Attorney General&nbsp;Letitia James, who was instrumental in forcing Cuomo\u2019s resignation over sexual harassment allegations, because Cuomo used state resources to prepare the book, the <em>New York Post<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2021\/12\/14\/andrew-cuomo-ordered-to-return-pandemic-book-profits-to-state\/\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is ordered that by no later than 30 days from the date of this resolution, Gov. Cuomo pay over to the attorney general of the State of New York an amount equal to the compensation paid to him for his outside activities related to the book,\u201d the resolution reads.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>The author of the resolution,&nbsp;David McNamara, a Senate Republican appointed commissioner, stated \u201cGov. Cuomo is not legally entitled to retain compensation \u2026 for any form of outside activity related to the book.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cuomo\u2019s attorney pushed back on the ruling as \u201cunconstitutional\u201d and \u201cdriven by political interest.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJCOPE\u2019s actions today are unconstitutional, exceed its own authority and appear to be driven by political interests rather than the facts and the law,\u201d Cuomo\u2019s attorney said.&nbsp;\u201cShould they seek to enforce this action, we\u2019ll see them in court.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In February,&nbsp;New York\u2019s secretary to Cuomo, Melissa DeRosa, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/health\/2021\/02\/11\/andrew-cuomos-aide-admits-ny-hid-covid-19-nursing-home-deaths-to-avoid-federal-investigation\/\">confessed<\/a> Cuomo allegedly suppressed information related to coronavirus nursing some deaths:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"8.8208955223881\">\n<p>In a recorded call with state Democrat lawmakers, DeRosa said Cuomo\u2019s team feared a federal investigation in the context of former President Donald Trump\u2019s highlighting of coronavirus-related deaths in New York\u2019s nursing homes.
