The House is expected to pass the measure late Tuesday or Wednesday, which would send it to President Joe Biden\u2019s desk.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo brinksmanship, no default on the debt, no risk of another recession: responsible governing has won on this exceedingly important issue,\u201d Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said on the floor Tuesday, going on to thank Republicans for their cooperation. \u201cThe American people can breathe easy and rest assured there will not be a default.\u201d <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/12\/09\/senate-clears-way-democrats-raise-debt-ceiling-agreement-mcconnell-schumer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Senate Clears Way For Democrats To Lift The Debt Ceiling After Agreement Between Schumer, McConnell)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Raising the debt ceiling had resulted in partisan impasse for <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/09\/15\/think-im-bluffing-mitch-mcconnell-doubles-down-against-debt-ceiling-raise-government-shutdown\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">months<\/a>, with Republicans long insisting that Democrats lift it on their own by attaching it to their filibuster-proof tax and spend package even after Congress agreed on a <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/10\/12\/house-approves-debt-ceiling-increase-delaying-nationwide-default\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">short-term raise<\/a> to delay a default in October. But Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer repeatedly refused to do so, and in an effort to avoid default, Minority Leader Mitch McConnell <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/12\/09\/senate-clears-way-democrats-raise-debt-ceiling-agreement-mcconnell-schumer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">agreed to a deal<\/a> that allowed Democrats to lift the ceiling on their own via a standalone bill.<\/p>\n<p>Though McConnell was <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/12\/13\/kelly-tshibaka-unloads-mitch-mcconnell-wont-support-him-as-leader-lisa-murkowski\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">criticized by Republicans\u2019 right flank<\/a> over the deal, which allowed for a separate bill enabling Democrats to lift the ceiling without overcoming a filibuster, enough in his caucus supported for it to be adopted last week.
