Energy and Commerce Ranking Member Cathy McMorris Rodgers and Rep. Morgan Griffith, the top Republican on the panel\u2019s oversight subcommittee, spearheaded the effort.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPresident Biden continues to demand hundreds of billions of dollars for clean energy and climate provisions through the budget reconciliation process,\u201d the two Republicans wrote to Becerra.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are concerned that unmoored politics\u2014rather than congressional enactments\u2014are leading President Biden\u2019s agenda, which may result in inefficient and duplicative efforts across multiple divisions of the department as well as other federal agencies,\u201d they said. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/12\/13\/joe-biden-fema-kentucky-midwest-tornadoes-climate-change\/\">(RELATED: Media, Liberals Quick To Blame Deadly Tornadoes On Climate Change)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_7337350\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\" readability=\"33\">\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-7337350\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">President Joe Biden listens as Health Secretary Xavier Becerra delivers remarks at the White House on Dec. 1. (Anna Moneymaker\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>On Aug. 30, HHS <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hhs.gov\/about\/news\/2021\/08\/30\/hhs-establishes-office-climate-change-and-health-equity.html\">announced<\/a> that it would create the Office of Climate Change and Health Equity (OCCHE) in response to President Joe Biden\u2019s January <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/presidential-actions\/2021\/01\/27\/executive-order-on-tackling-the-climate-crisis-at-home-and-abroad\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">executive order<\/a> on \u201ctackling the climate crisis.\u201d The agency said the office would be tasked with \u201cidentifying communities\u201d at greater risk of climate impacts, addressing health disparities \u201cexacerbated\u201d by climate change and promoting the benefits of the Biden administration\u2019s climate policies.<\/p>\n<p>Following the announcement, Becerra said \u201chealth is at the center of climate change\u201d and that the OCCHE would be part of the federal government\u2019s effort to protect Americans\u2019 health.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe new HHS Office of Climate Change and Health Equity is fulfilling President Biden\u2019s vision to bring America\u2019s world-class medical community into the fight against climate change\u2014a fight for our health that ensures no community is left behind,\u201d White House National Climate Adviser Gina McCarthy <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hhs.gov\/about\/news\/2021\/08\/30\/hhs-establishes-office-climate-change-and-health-equity.html\">said in a statement<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>But McMorris Rodgers and Griffith questioned whether the OCCHE\u2019s stated tasks have already been addressed by other federal efforts, according to their letter.
