Mitch McConnell (R-KY) breaking his promise and enabling the Democrats to escape a tight jam that would have endangered President Biden\u2019s massive tax and spend agenda, Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) are angling to raise the debt ceiling past the midterm election to presumably soothe midterm races.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cResponsible governing has won on this exceedingly important issue,\u201d Schumer claimed. \u201cThe American people can breathe easy and rest assured there will not be a default.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" readability=\"6.1764705882353\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">.<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SenatorDurbin?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@SenatorDurbin<\/a> announces Senate will vote on passage of debt limit bill at 4 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Jennifer Shutt (@JenniferShutt) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JenniferShutt\/status\/1470818382664642565?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 14, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Senate Democrats and McConnell and GOP allies will likely vote to pass the measure Tuesday out of the high chamber and into the House. Pelosi will reportedly attempt to pass the measure Wednesday and send the bill to the president\u2019s desk for his signature thereafter.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"10.593103448276\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">NEW \u2013 Senate Democrats are seeking to increase the U.S. debt limit by $2,500,000,000,000 today.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Disclose.tv (@disclosetv) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/disclosetv\/status\/1470789037220843526?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 14, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Not all members of the far left were pleased with the Democrats\u2019 decision to raise the debt ceiling past the 2022 midterm elections.<\/p>\n<p>MSNBC anchor Chris Hayes slammed the idea as Democrat legislative \u201cmalpractice\u201d and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/chrislhayes\/status\/1470784044107546627?s=20\">suggested<\/a> raising the debt ceiling past the midterms will yield a situation where, if Republicans win the House, the GOP will be able to force an effective budget standoff.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe more I think about it, the more this is malpractice,\u201d Hayes said. \u201cR\u2019s are likely to win the house and, OBVIOUSLY, will set up another debt limit standoff EXACTLY like 2011 that led to years of destructive austerity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Whether or not Hayes is correct on interparty strategy, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) defended raising the debt ceiling and increasing the nation\u2019s debt to&nbsp;a Fox News reporter.&nbsp;Warren said the wealthy do not pay enough taxes to offset the nation\u2019s welfare and defense spending.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cWe have a debt problem, partly because the very richest people just aren\u2019t paying,\u201d she <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ChadPergram\/status\/1470787336082538508?s=20\">said<\/a>. \u201cAnd one thing we need to do is to get the billionaires to actually pay income tax.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou know, Jeff Bezos claims despite being one of the richest people in the world, that he only had $83,000 in taxable income a year and therefore paid almost nothing,\u201d Warren said.<\/p>\n<p>Warren\u2019s support of raising the debt ceiling could also be a result of clearing the Senate calendar for a vote on Biden\u2019s nearly $2 trillion reconciliation package before Christmas.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"9.4542483660131\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Senate Democrats debt limit resolution would raise the debt limit by $2.5 trillion.<\/p>\n<p>Schumer said earlier today it &#8220;will provide for a raising of the debt limit to a level commensurate with funding necessary to get into 2023.&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/tqyCSo6007\">pic.twitter.com\/tqyCSo6007<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Jennifer Shutt (@JenniferShutt) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JenniferShutt\/status\/1470783508410949637?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 14, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Manchin also raised worries that many of the most radical and costly programs in the bill would never sunset, as Democrats have promised they would. If the never-ending programs in the package do not sunset, the package\u2019s estimated&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/12\/10\/lindsey-graham-latest-cbo-scoring-build-back-better-reveals-spending-orgy\/\">cost<\/a>&nbsp;is&nbsp;<span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">$4.9 trillion in scope, not $1.9 trillion.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Despite Manchin\u2019s fears, Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-IL) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/frankthorp\/status\/1470788970791407622?s=20\">told<\/a> reporters the Senate Democrats should attempt to pass the package as soon as possible.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMany people will sit on the fence as long as possible,\u201d he said. \u201cIt comes a time we\u2019ve got to say, \u2018All right, we\u2019ve done the negotiating.
