Kathy Hochul\u2019s (D) latest mask mandate, which forces businesses to choose between checking the vaccine status of patrons or requiring masks for all.<\/p>\n<p>According to Newsday, a spokesperson <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsday.com\/news\/health\/coronavirus\/hochul-mask-mandate-covid-nassau-suffolk-1.50450495\">stated<\/a> that Blakeman \u201cwould not enforce the mandate once he takes office on Jan. 1,\u201d joining \u201cseveral upstate county leaders\u201d who have also indicated that they will not enforce the Democrat governor\u2019s edict. That includes the leaders of \u201cMadison near Syracuse and Livingston near Rochester, along with Putnam, Dutchess, Rockland, Niagara and Rensselaer,\u201d per the outlet.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>However,&nbsp;Nassau County Executive Laura Curran\u2019s office has indicated that it will enforce the mandate in the final stretch of her time in office.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cWe have left this to the counties to enforce,\u201d Hochul said of her mandate. \u201cWe hope that counties will enforce it. We expect that they will. We hope that they will. It\u2019s in the best interests of public health.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The mandate, which she announced on Friday, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/12\/11\/new-york-issues-ultimatum-businesses-check-patrons-vaccination-status-require-masks\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">requires<\/a> all businesses to either check the vaccine status of patrons or require a sweeping mask mandate, applying to virtually all. It will last until January 15, 2022, although it could be extended further,<\/p>\n<p>However, Hochul admitted that it \u201ccomes down to individual businesses doing the right thing as well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe temporary measures I am taking today will help accomplish this through the holiday season,\u201d she said in a statement, mildly scolding unvaccinated New Yorkers and essentially blaming them for the additional mitigation measures.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to thank the more than 80 percent of New Yorkers who have done the right thing to get fully vaccinated. If others will follow suit, these measures will no longer be necessary,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, other blue states are implementing additional requirements as well.
