Instead, Lemon merely claimed that unnamed \u201cexperts are saying\u201d that a 2020 rise in car accidents \u201cis due to an overall lack of civility in our society, a lack of civility that we have seen in school board meetings, over mask mandates, and on airplanes.\u201d His \u201cevidence\u201d about 2020 car accidents came from CNN footage of events that took place in 2021.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, Gutfeld questioned who these \u201cexperts\u201d are. \u201cThat evidence is harder to find than a CNN viewer,\u201d &nbsp;he quipped.<\/p>\n<p>Even Lemon\u2019s guest undermined his argument on Thursday night\u2019s episode of CNN\u2019s \u201cDon Lemon Tonight.\u201d While Lemon focused on \u201ccivility,\u201d his guest named another culprit: A stressed-out population that medicated itself with drugs and alcohol during the COVID-19 pandemic and associated, government-mandated lockdowns.<\/p>\n<p>Lemon began the segment on the December 9 episode by saying there were \u201c38,680 deaths on U.S. roads last year \u2014 the most fatalities since 2007 \u2014 and that\u2019s even with pandemic precautions drastically reducing the number of drivers on the roads.&nbsp;So, what gives?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Don Lemon then explained 2020 car accidents by showing b-roll footage of confrontations that took place in 2021.<\/p>\n<p>CNN <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GHSAHQ\/status\/1469404057911627788\">showed a montage<\/a> of a fist fight that broke out at Lee County (Florida) School District&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/nbc-2.com\/news\/local\/2021\/08\/30\/lee-schools-mandates-masks-eliminates-form\/\">on August 31<\/a>; a stand-off in a Tennessee parking lot <a href=\"https:\/\/www.charlotteobserver.com\/news\/coronavirus\/article253427924.html\">on August 10<\/a>; and a confrontation between airline personnel and guests who did not properly wear a mask inside a JetBlue flight from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, to San Diego, California, on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/couple-kicked-off-flight-not-wearing-masks-properly-filmed-abusing-staff-video-instagram-1628161\">September 10<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Lemon omitted footage of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/msnbc-people-only-think-blm-riots-were-violent-because-of-fox-news-newsmax-oan-bubble\">the most uncivil actions of 2020: The BLM riots<\/a> that decimated cities nationwide, burned down inner-city stores and police precincts, and claimed the life of former St. Louis police captain <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/david-dorn-retired-police-captain-killed-in-june-burglary-receives-act-of-heroism-award\">David Dorn<\/a>. CNN infamously&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/watch-cnn-claims-kenosha-protests-are-fiery-but-mostly-peaceful-as-city-burns-behind-reporter\">described<\/a>&nbsp;the arson-fueled unrest in Kenosha, Wisconsin, as \u201cfiery but mostly peaceful protests.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Although Lemon <a href=\"https:\/\/transcripts.cnn.com\/show\/cnnt\/date\/2021-12-09\/segment\/01\">projected<\/a> 2021\u2019s controversies backwards onto 2020\u2019s highways, guest Pam Shadel Fischer of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ghsa.org\/\">Governors Highway Safety Association<\/a> said automobile wrecks increased due to the stress and addiction caused by last year\u2019s COVID-19 pandemic:<\/p>\n<p><em>I think there\u2019s just been so much stress, so much, you know, just feeling like you\u2019re losing control, and so people are getting out there on the road, and they saw open highways and they were saying, \u2018Wow. I can really put pedal to the metal. I can push it. I can do things just to relieve some of that stress.\u2019<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>A lot of people have been medicating, using alcohol, using drugs , because they are so stressed out. When you put that combination of alcohol and drugs and you get behind the wheel and you are literally a powder keg ready to explode. You could cause damage and really kill someone.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>She said officers regularly report accident victims \u201cdriving impaired on alcohol, drugs, sometimes multiple substances at the same time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The global coronavirus outbreak triggered stress \u2014 with a <a href=\"https:\/\/news.gallup.com\/poll\/352205\/2020-sets-records-negative-emotions.aspx?utm_source=newsletter&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=newsletter_axiosam&amp;stream=top\">Gallup poll<\/a> finding that 2020 broke its record as the most stressful year in the 15 years for which it had records.<\/p>\n<p>Addictions increased to soothe the stress, leading to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/covid-19-pandemic-drives-record-breaking-number-of-drug-overdoses\">record-breaking<\/a> number of overdose deaths.
