Rufo \u2694\ufe0f (@realchrisrufo) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/realchrisrufo\/status\/1470537767323004929?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 13, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Matos said her undergraduate degree in international relations from Brown University and then her law degree from the Catholic University of America helped her to pursue a goal of changing \u201cstructural oppression.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/regents.universityofcalifornia.edu\/regmeet\/june21\/g2.pdf\">agenda<\/a> for the members of the Regents\/UC Governance Committee for a June 23 meeting, Matos\u2019 salary was presented as an item:<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<blockquote readability=\"18\">\n<p>The appointment of and compensation for Dania Matos as Vice Chancellor for Equity and Inclusion, Berkeley campus, at 100 percent time, effective on her hire date which is estimated to be August 16, 2021, with a proposed base salary of $325,000 \u2026 The proposed base salary of $325,000 is 10.4 percent above the 75th percentile ($294,400) and 5.8 percent below the 90th percentile ($345,200) of the position\u2019s Market Reference Zone and 14 percent above the current career incumbent\u2019s base salary ($285,000).<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Today, Matos said she spends her time meeting and holding \u201clistening sessions\u201d with \u201cstudents, faculty, staff, and campus partners.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Matos described the \u201cemotional toll\u201d of her job, one that is helped by \u201cpracticing mindfulness breathing\u201d:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"11\">\n<p>I am up against a lot of systems of power that are bigger than myself. It takes a little bit out of you. When you\u2019re battling injustices, systemic oppression, racism, sexism \u2013&nbsp;all those things \u2013 your heart breaks into a million pieces.
