Anthony has the domestic rundown&nbsp;here&nbsp;\u2014 and offshore is a somewhat similar situation. There are increased Covid fears in Europe and older audiences are not rushing out to see a film they know they can catch during the down time after holiday preparations are through. In terms of individual markets, the&nbsp;<strong>UK<\/strong>&nbsp;leads at $1.7M (No. 2 opening), followed by&nbsp;<strong>France<\/strong>&nbsp;with $1.1M (the soft market is led by a local fourquel which saw a bigger drop from Wednesday-Thursday than&nbsp;<em>WSS<\/em>). After that, we cast downwards to&nbsp;<strong>Germany<\/strong>\u2019s $300K start and&nbsp;<strong>Russia<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>Netherlands<\/strong>\u2019 $200K debuts. Russia and Germany were expected to be soft, and Netherlands has a 5PM curfew in place.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Oh, yes, the virus. That must be it\u2026<\/p>\n<p>But-but-but then why did this same outlet predict a worldwide haul of <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2021\/12\/disney-hopes-for-long-holiday-dance-with-steven-spielbergs-west-side-story-global-start-could-reach-31m-box-office-preview-1234887032\/\">$31 million<\/a>, more than twice that $15 million, just a few days ago? Y\u2019all knew about the coronavirus issues when you made that prediction. What changed?<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>But-but-but why did this same older-skewing audience flock to <em>No Time to Die<\/em> just a few weeks ago?<\/p>\n<p>Do the media honestly believe we don\u2019t see through their water carrying, their lies?<\/p>\n<p>The thing is, the entertainment media are not in business to inform their readers, nor are they in business to report the truth. Their job is to kiss Hollywood\u2019s ass, to make Hollywood feel good about itself, and that means the entertainment media act as corporate spin doctors and publicists.<\/p>\n<p>If Deadline were to accurately report the truth behind the global rejection of <em>Woke Side Story<\/em>, they would lose advertising dollars and access. So they sell their souls and lie to you.<\/p>\n<p>By far, Spielberg\u2019s <em>West Side Story<\/em> is the worst publicity campaign I\u2019ve ever seen. Therefore, anyone who may have been interested in seeing it chose not to for a whole host of reasons that have nothing to do with the virus.
