No one was injured during the robbery.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>According to the <em>Hill<\/em>, \u201cOakland Mayor&nbsp;<a class=\"rollover-people-link\" href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/person\/libby-schaaf\">Libby Schaaf<\/a>&nbsp;(D) <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/state-watch\/585511-nbc-news-crew-robbed-in-oakland\">said<\/a> two weeks ago that&nbsp;her office was <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/state-watch\/583532-oakland-officials-eye-police-expansion-to-confront-violent-crime\">drafting<\/a> a proposal&nbsp;to place before the City Council to increase active police presence and require a larger police force. (Photo by Justin Sullivan\/Getty Images)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Schaaf defined the issue as one of \u201cgun violence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe in Oakland believe in a comprehensive and effective approach to ending gun violence,\u201d Schaaf <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mercurynews.com\/2021\/12\/11\/oakland-nbc-news-crew-robbed-at-gunpoint\/\">said<\/a> earlier this month.<\/p>\n<p>However, Schaaf didn\u2019t always believe in a \u201ccomprehensive\u201d approach. Under her leadership, Oakland\u2019s police force fell to 677 officers, the smallest the department has been in recent years.
