There was nothing at all immoral about that casting choice. On the contrary, Natalie Wood\u2019s portrayal was perfectly respectful.<\/p>\n<p>The result? To the surprise of no one who understands human nature, Spielberg\u2019s \u201ccorrection,\u201d which cost $100 million to produce and at least as much to promote, is a box office catastrophe.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<div id=\"attachment_19095426\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\" readability=\"32\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/westsidestoryBO1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-19095426\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/westsidestoryBO1.jpg\" alt width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>20th Century Films\/LAURENT EMMANUEL\/AFP via Getty Images<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Naturally, the serial liars in the entertainment media are making all kinds of phony excuses for this historic flop. One\u2019s even <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20211212171814\/https:\/variety.com\/2021\/film\/columns\/west-side-story-steven-spielberg-underperforamance-1235131407\/\">blaming Trump<\/a>. But the truth is the truth is the truth, and the truth is that woke is box office poison.<\/p>\n<p>Why is woke box office poison? Because art fails when it lies and woke is not only a lie; it is a violation of human nature.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ll give you a recent example. In Sandra Bullock\u2019s latest Netflix movie, <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/entertainment\/2021\/12\/11\/the-unforgivable-review-good-old-fashioned-womens-picture\/\">The Unforgivable<\/a><\/em>, she plays a cop killer released after spending 20 years in prison. A black character, played by Viola Davis, says the following (paraphrasing): <em>If she were a black cop killer, she would not have survived those 20 years. <\/em><\/p>\n<p>Are you kidding me? Someone actually wrote that whopper?<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>Time and again and again, we have seen black cop-killers <a href=\"https:\/\/townhall.com\/tipsheet\/greghengler\/2013\/02\/13\/black-professor-praises-black-cop-killer-like-watching-jango-unchainedits-kind-of-exciting-n1511824\">celebrated<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/us-news\/2020\/sep\/24\/jalil-muntaqim-former-black-panther-to-be-released-49-years-prison\">released<\/a>, and turned into <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mumia_Abu-Jamal\">folk heroes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Everyone knows this.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>And that\u2019s the fundamental problem with woke\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Woke is a lie, and when art lies, it fails. In order to succeed, art must, in some way, speak to a larger truth; even if it\u2019s a truth as generalized as our human desire for revenge, truth matters. Once you go woke, once you violate human nature (especially with biology and sexuality), you\u2019ve created propaganda, which is as disposable and forgettable and boring as a used tissue.<\/p>\n<p>Woke is so destructive, entire IPs are getting wiped out at the box office. Full-fledged franchises are now dead\u2026 Woke has destroyed one golden goose after another\u2026<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B4\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p><em>Star Wars, Charlie\u2019s Angels, Men in Black, X-Men, Shaft, Terminator, Suicide Squad, Birds of Prey<\/em>\u2026 Do you want more proof? Look at how <em>Ghostbusters <\/em>rescued itself. (Columbia Pictures)<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>After the woke <em>Eternals<\/em> flopped (who wants to watch two guys kiss?), even the Marvel Cinematic Universe finds itself on shaky ground.<\/p>\n<p>How many of these high-profile woketard movies have to <em>shock<\/em> the box office with their failure <em>\u2014 In the Heights, The Last Duel, Many Saints of Newark, Vice, A Wrinkle in Time, Detroit, <\/em>etc. \u2014 before Hollywood wakes up?<\/p>\n<p>Well, Hollywood will never wake up. The entertainment business is no longer about pleasing audiences. Instead, it\u2019s all about pleasing China, the left-wing bubble, Twitter, and fascist racial activists.<\/p>\n<p>Woke will eventually play itself out. In the meantime, though, the self-destruction has been incalculable.
