The creatives at Disney, for example, have spent many years and millions of dollars turning all their classic cartoons into live-action remakes.<\/p>\n<p>These adaptations are sometimes shot-for-shot copies with live actors which makes their existence questionable. <\/p>\n<p>But what\u2019s even worse than Disney\u2019s revamping of old movies without changing them is the inevitable \u201cmodernizing\u201d of classic films. In the live-action version of \u201cBeauty and the Beast\u201d (2017), Belle is presented as an inventor like her father. And in \u201cAladdin\u201d (2019), Jasmine gets a much bigger backstory and a desire to run the city, not just escape it \u2014 plot changes that are an obvious nod to feminist themes.<\/p>\n<p>There are hints that progressive elements will make it into the remake of this 1936 Disney classic. <\/p>\n<p>During an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buzzfeed.com\/morgansloss1\/rachel-zegler-west-side-story-interview\">interview<\/a> with Buzzfeed, actress Rachel Zegler said she\u2019s excited to bring Snow White into the modern era by telling a story that\u2019s \u201ca lot stronger.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s not much I can say about it besides the fact that Snow White has constantly been criticized \u2014 even though she\u2019s the original Disney princess and we love her so much \u2014 but criticized for existing solely for a prince, existing solely to be rescued,\u201d the actress explained.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think that our director, Marc Webb, and everyone who\u2019s working on this film has really taken her narrative and turned it into something that\u2019s a lot stronger. And I\u2019m very, very excited to be able to bring that to life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s anyone\u2019s guess how the story will be changed to accommodate woke messaging. But Disney\u2019s \u201cStories Matter\u201d initiative makes the overarching <a href=\"https:\/\/storiesmatter.thewaltdisneycompany.com\/\">goals<\/a> of the company clear. It states that the company will continue reviewing content and adding context Disclaimers when necessary as part of an \u201congoing commitment to diversity and inclusion.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Plus, changing the storyline wouldn\u2019t be completely different from what screenwriters did with the original story material. The original \u201cSnow White\u201d fairytale included macabre details, like the Evil Queen demanding the huntsman to bring back Snow White\u2019s heart and liver as proof that he killed her. He returned with the organs of a deer instead, and the queen ate them.
