Beshear declared a state of emergency Friday night and said he activated the national guard and requested federal assistance.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis has been one of the toughest nights in Kentucky history and some areas have been hit in ways that are hard to put into words. To all of our Kentucky families that are impacted by this, we want you to know that we are here for you, we love you, and we are praying for you,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will get make it through this, we will rebuild,\u201d Beshear added. \u201cWe are strong, resilient people, and we will be there every step of the way.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Multiple prominent buildings were destroyed during the storms, including a candle factory in Mayfield, Kentucky, and an Amazon warehouse in Illinois.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne of the tornadoes touched down in Edwardsville. During the storm, multiple agencies responded to a collapse at the Amazon distribution center near I-270 and Illinois Route 111. Officials are confirming fatalities,\u201d Fox 2 Now&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/fox2now.com\/news\/weather\/storms-with-strong-winds-may-produce-tornadoes-near-st-louis-tonight\/\">reported<\/a>. \u201cAuthorities said multiple people are trapped inside the warehouse, and there are reports of possibly 50 to 100 workers at the facility.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kentucky is not the only state in America suffering power outages due to recent severe storms. Tens of thousands of customers are without power in Michigan and New York due to powerful windstorms that affected the two states over the weekend, the Independent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/news\/world\/americas\/michigan-new-york-power-outages-b1974777.html\">reported<\/a>. As of this writing, more than 43,000 people in Michigan and more than 26,000 people in New York have no power.<\/p>\n<p>Inclement weather in California has also knocked out power, with more than 35,000 people in California still without power. The Golden State suffered its first winter storm over the weekend, with Sacramento seeing the worst of the storm Monday morning, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.abc10.com\/article\/weather\/weather-local\/power-outages-hit-northern-california-overnight-winter-storm\/103-b841949b-a868-4702-8560-a44efa116099\">according to ABC 10<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Gov.
