Additionally, reports surfaced that Meyer blasted his coaching staff for being \u201closers,\u201d challenging them to defend their resumes and prove to him when they\u2019ve ever won.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Meyer also benched running back James Robinson following an opening-drive fumble during the Jaguars 37-7 loss to the Los Angeles Rams in week 13. Meyer reportedly only allowed Robinson to return after Lawrence implored Meyer to insert Robinson back into the game on the sidelines.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBottom line is James is one of our best players and he\u2019s got to be on the field and we addressed it, and I feel like we\u2019re in a good spot and the whole team, we\u2019re good,\u201d Lawrence said last week.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Following Jacksonville\u2019s shutout loss on Sunday, Meyer denied the allegations, threatening to fire the source behind the leaks.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat\u2019s the answer [when things are going badly]? Start leaking information or some nonsense?\u201d Meyer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/story\/_\/id\/32855042\/urban-meyer-denies-jacksonville-jaguars-reports-there-source-source-unemployed\">said<\/a> after the game. \u201cNo. No, that\u2019s nonsense. That\u2019s garbage. I\u2019ve been very blessed. I\u2019ve not really dealt with that. I\u2019ve not dealt with, \u2018Well, did you hear what he said?\u2019 What? No. Let\u2019s improve on offense and get our quarterback in a position to be successful. That\u2019s our focus.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat someone\u2019s brother said, or someone said someone said, that will occupy very little of my time. And if there is a source, that source is unemployed. I mean, within seconds, if there\u2019s some source that\u2019s doing that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Meyer also denied calling his coaches \u201closers,\u201d but admitting that he does \u201chave high expectations for our coaches.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCalling someone a loser, that\u2019s inaccurate,\u201d Meyer said. \u201cI have high expectations for our coaches. I\u2019m very demanding of our coaches and expect guys to be held accountable for their positions, and the times when they\u2019re not, we address it. But I assure you there was not whatever report \u2026 that\u2019s nonsense.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Meyer agreed to return to coaching this offseason, his first stint in the NFL. Many questioned the hire at the time, considering Meyer had only coached in the college ranks in his career.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>He found himself in hot water earlier in the season when a video of Meyer surfaced at a bar with a young woman grinding against him. Meyer apologized to the team, but Jaguars owner Shad Khan said he would have to \u201cregain our trust and respect.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have addressed this matter with Urban,\u201d Khan <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nfl.com\/news\/jaguars-owner-shad-khan-releases-statement-on-urban-meyer-he-must-regain-our-tru\">said<\/a> in a statement. \u201cSpecifics of our conversation will be held in confidence. What I will say is his conduct last weekend was inexcusable. I appreciate Urban\u2019s remorse, which I believe is sincere. Now, he must regain our trust and respect. That will require a personal commitment from Urban to everyone who supports, represents or plays for our team.
