On Friday, alleged victim Annie Farmer testified, devoting roughly 90% of her time talking about Epstein and 10% about Maxwell, who wasn’t present for much of what was described.Last week, Maxwell was accused by two witnesses in court of groping them when they were underage, but the case isn’t centered around abuse, it’s about trafficking young girls across state or international borders. Some flight logs from Epstein’s private plane, and emails were shared, but there was little revealing evidence against Maxwell in this regard. The DefenseMaxwell’s attorneys are expected to argue her relationship with Epstein has been overblown, and she was essentially an employee who had a brief romantic relationship with him. They will likely try to paint her almost as another Epstein victim who had no idea the scale and scope of his alleged abuses, but there have been some patterns of testimony about Maxwell grooming the girls. Even if the jury thinks her actions were terrible, the question remains if it has been proven she trafficked – or arranged for the transportation and movement of – the girls.Well-known players involved with Epstein haven’t been discussed in the trial up to this point. Implicating powerful figures in Epstein’s orbit likely won’t help either side in the case. The trial appears likely to conclude by the end of December or early January. Olivier Douliery/Pool/AFP via Getty ImagesOther Stories We’re TrackingChris WallaceJournalist Chris Wallace announced Sunday he is leaving Fox to join CNN+, a new streaming platform debuting in 2022.
