Many of the companies have also promised to make diversity a component of their programs.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Nespresso said it would be cognizant of \u201cclimate change\u201d and \u201cgender equity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNespresso will also pilot an innovative crop insurance program designed to help protect farmers against the effects of climate change during next year\u2019s harvest,\u201d the White House noted, \u201cTo help empower women and raise the percentage of female farmers, Nespresso has provided its agronomists\u201441% of whom are women\u2014with training focused on gender equity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>CARE International, which has committed to $50 million to support gender equity, will make sure that \u201ccompanies joining the Call to Action with technical assistance to ensure that a gender-based lens is applied to new programs and investment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Some analysts have expressed skepticism at the vice president\u2019s \u201croot causes\u201d approach.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[Funding] to El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras is not likely do much good, either. The United States has been sending money to those countries for decades, and as the foregoing shows, migration from each has just increased over time,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/cis.org\/Arthur\/Biden-Border-Crisis-Goes-Global-Aliens-Enter-Illegally-Farther-Away\">wrote<\/a> Andrew Arthur at the Center for Immigration Studies.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Arthur argued that the best deterrent was to enforce immigration law in its current form.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The push for private investment in many Central American countries comes as migrant caravans continue to push north through Mexico, even halting traffic on highways.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHundreds of migrants walking towards Mexico City on Thursday brought traffic to a halt at an important highway connecting the capital and the central state of Puebla,\u201d Reuters <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/americas\/migrant-caravan-brings-highway-central-mexico-stand-still-2021-12-10\/\">reported<\/a> last week.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Biden has seen surges at the border throughout his administration, with record numbers of encounters over the summer.
