(Photo by Menahem KAHANA \/ AFP) (Photo by MENAHEM KAHANA\/AFP via Getty Images)<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Mswane <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/middle-east\/2021\/12\/12\/miss-south-africa-ive-been-to-hell-and-back-over-calls-to-boycott-israel\/\">said<\/a> earlier that she had been \u201cto hell and back\u201d over her decision to compete in Israel, after anti-Israel groups in South Africa affiliated with the global \u201cboycott, divestment, sanctions\u201d (BDS) movement \u2014 which has been called antisemitic, for singling out Israel alone for criticism \u2014 put intense pressure on her to withdraw.<\/p>\n<p>Even the South African government withdrew its support for her candidacy.<\/p>\n<p>But Mswane stressed dialogue over conflict \u2014 a theme that played out on Sunday with the participation of several Arab countries in the competition, and the surprising&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/\">first-ever visit<\/a> of an Israeli prime minister to the United Arab Emirates.<\/p>\n<p>Her strong finish in the competition vindicates her decision to compete \u2014 and puts the South African government in an awkward position: it cannot congratulate her for her success without noting that it did everything to stand in her way.<\/p>\n<p><em>Joel B.
