The federal government also collected a record $282,094,000,000 in individual income taxes in the first two months of this fiscal year.<\/p>\n<p>The CNS News website <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnsnews.com\/article\/washington\/terence-p-jeffrey\/565135000000-federal-tax-collections-set-record-through\">reported<\/a> on the record intake:<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<blockquote readability=\"16.2271973466\">\n<p>The $921,526,000,000 that the federal government spent in October and November is the most the federal government has ever spent in the first two months of the fiscal year in nominal dollars. However, when the $886,587,000,000 that the federal government spent <a href=\"https:\/\/fiscal.treasury.gov\/files\/reports-statements\/mts\/mts1120.pdf\">in October and November of 2020<\/a> (the first two months of fiscal 2021) is adjusted for inflation (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bls.gov\/data\/inflation_calculator.htm\">using the Bureau of Labor Statistics inflation calculator<\/a>) into November 2021 dollars it equals $946,954,730,000. Thus, fiscal 2021 maintains its record for the most money spent by the federal government in the first two months of a fiscal year.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div id=\"attachment_19081410\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\" readability=\"35\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/GettyImages-1357903042-e1639141817605.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-19081410\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/GettyImages-1357903042-e1639141817605.jpg\" alt width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>U.S. President Joe Biden stops to talk to reporters before departing the White House December 08, 2021 in Washington, DC. (Photo by Chip Somodevilla\/Getty Images)<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>But even with record taxes the government spent more than it collected:<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<blockquote readability=\"44\">\n<p>While collecting its record $565,135,000,000 in total taxes in the first two months of this fiscal year, the federal government spent $921,526,000,000\u2014resulting in a deficit of $356,390,000,000 in the first two months of the fiscal year.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to collecting a record $282,094,000,000 in individual income taxes in the first two months of this fiscal year, the Treasury also collected $216,272,000,000 in social insurance and retirement taxes; $15,385,000,000 in corporation income taxes; $13,360,000,000 in excise taxes; $15,586,000,000 in customs duties; $4,262,000,000 in estate and gift taxes; and $18,175,000,000 in what the Monthly Treasury Statement calls \u201cmiscellaneous receipts.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The agency\u2019s monthly statement reveals the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS)<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span>spent the most money \u2014 $254,706,000,000 \u2014 in the first two months of fiscal 2022, followed by the Social Security Administration (SSA) ($201,487,000,000) and in third place the Defense Department-Military Programs with $126,299,000,000 in spending.<\/p>\n<p><em>Follow Penny Starr on <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PennyStarrDC\">Twitter<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The U.S. Treasury is reporting a record amount of taxes collected in the first two months of fiscal 2022 (October, November) \u2014 $565,135,000,000.
