Tom Wolf\u2019s school mask mandate.<\/p>\n<p>On Friday, the state court ruled the governor and his health secretary didn\u2019t have the power to issue the mandate. The suit was brought on by a group of parents, school districts and Republican legislators.<\/p>\n<p>A representative for the State Health Department called the ruling \u201cdisappointing,\u201d saying forcibly masking kids is designed to keep them safe.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe administration recognizes that many school districts want to ensure a safe and healthy learning environment for students and staff, and we are hopeful they will make appropriate mitigation decisions moving forward,\u201d said Wolf\u2019s spokeswoman, Beth Rementer.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">PA Supreme Court rules that the statewide mask mandate is over, effective immediately! <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/yqCx0dZ35W\">https:\/\/t.co\/yqCx0dZ35W<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Senator Doug Mastriano (@SenMastriano) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SenMastriano\/status\/1469414136857739285?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 10, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The Republicans, however, disagree and say the mandate is divisive and parents should be free to decide what\u2019s best for their kids.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s the right of parents and legal guardians to gather the facts and decide what they view is in the best interest of their child,\u201d stated Sen.
