The law in question bans abortions after six weeks for women.<\/p>\n<p>According to sources on Friday, Biden was concerned <a href=\"https:\/\/legiscan.com\/TX\/text\/SB8\/id\/2395961\">SB8<\/a> would infringe upon a woman\u2019s right to choose.&nbsp;Abortion providers sided with the Democrat and also filed a lawsuit against Texas on Friday, which the Supreme Court agreed to listen to.<\/p>\n<p>However, Texas officials claimed lawsuits couldn\u2019t be filed until the law was enforced. Meanwhile, Biden has urged Congress to codify abortion as a constitutional right.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Texas law SB8 will significantly impair people\u2019s access to the health care they need\u2014particularly for communities of color and individuals with low incomes.<\/p>\n<p>We are deeply committed to the constitutional right established in Roe v. Wade and will protect and defend that right.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Joe Biden (@JoeBiden) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JoeBiden\/status\/1433183957424689157?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 1, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cThe president is very concerned by the Supreme Court\u2019s decision allowing SB8 to remain in effect given the consequences the law has for women in Texas and around the country, and for the rule of law,\u201d stated White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki. \u201cI would just like to reiterate that the president is deeply committed to the constitutional right, recognizing Roe v. Wade.
