When Hurricane Ida <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/border\/2021\/08\/29\/videos-show-mounting-destruction-as-hurricane-ida-moves-inland\/\">rampaged<\/a> through the Gulf Coast in late August, the Thomisees lost their home and nearly every possession they owned.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Mattress Mack surprises family who lost everything in Hurricane Ida\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/fgJ0K2vRllU?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<p><span> \u201cYou just expect the storm to pass and things go back to normal in the in the next few weeks,\u201d Michele told KHOU. \u201cBut there was no home to go home to.\u201d&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cWithin a few days, everything was covered in mold, and wet,\u201d she said. \u201cAnd everything you worked for is gone.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>The couple moved to Clear Lake City in the Houston area to begin anew and lived out of a hotel for three months. They picked up jobs and saved money feverishly until they could afford a deposit for an apartment and their first month\u2019s rent, KHOU reports.<\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cWe\u2019re going to be OK,\u201d Michele said. \u201cThis is home now.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Though the apartment marked a major milestone for the couple that has endured immense hardship, they still were without many essentials, including a mattress, KHOU reports.<\/p>\n<p>Then, Jim \u201cMattress Mack\u201d McIngvale, the founder of Gallery Furniture, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/KHOU\/status\/1468816883235397641\">extended<\/a> a helping hand to the couple much to their surprise, KHOU reports.
