It found that a majority of voters, overall, 69.4 percent, say that increased mandates and restrictions are \u201cnot needed.\u201d Of those, 31.1 percent say it is \u201cnot a serious health risk,\u201d while 38.3 percent say \u201cregardless of risk, increased mandates and restrictions\u201d are \u201cnot needed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Overall, 30.6 percent believe the Omicron variant poses a \u201cserious health risk that warrants stricter mandates and restrictions.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>Notably, a majority of Republicans (86.5 percent), independents (67 percent), and Democrats (54.5 percent) agree with the bottom line that there should not be any more mandates in response to the variant, regardless of the risk. Among those, 50.3 percent of Republicans say Omicron is \u201cnot a serious health risk\u201d \u2014 a sentiment held by 18.4 percent of independents and 21.4 percent of Democrats.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>The survey, taken December 4-7, 2021, among 1,084 likely general election voters, has a margin of error of +\/- 2.98 percent.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">For months, even&nbsp;prior to the Omicron variant,&nbsp;public health officials such as Dr. Anthony Fauci&nbsp;have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/11\/22\/anthony-fauci-warns-relaxing-mask-mandates-prematurely-links-child-vaccination-rates\/\">cautioned<\/a>&nbsp;against relaxing coronavirus&nbsp;mandates.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf we do a good job in getting the overwhelming majority of that cohort vaccinated, we very well may have a situation where the cases go down and we can say no masks,\u201d Fauci <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/11\/22\/anthony-fauci-warns-relaxing-mask-mandates-prematurely-links-child-vaccination-rates\/\">said<\/a> in November. \u201cI hope that that\u2019s as we get through the winter and into the spring.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This week,&nbsp;World Health Organization (W.H.O.) director-general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus mentioned recently data out of South Africa suggesting that \u201cthere is also some evidence that Omicron causes milder disease than Delta.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"google-auto-placed ap_container\" readability=\"11.43661971831\">\n<p>The South African doctor who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2021\/11\/29\/omicron-covid-variant-symptoms-heres-what-we-know-so-far.html\">identified<\/a> the virus also said the symptoms seem to be \u201cextremely mild,\u201d speaking specifically of a 33-year-old patient who experienced body aches, a headache, and scratchy throat.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Most voters do not believe there should be mandates in response to the Omicron variant, a Convention of States\/Trafalgar Group survey released exclusively to Breitbart News found.
