(KAREN BLEIER\/AFP via Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h5>OAN Newsroom<br \/>UPDATED 2:34 PM PT \u2013 Friday, December 10, 2021<\/h5>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/home.treasury.gov\/news\/press-releases\/jy0526\">Treasury Department issued a number of new sanctions<\/a> on people and entities worldwide over accusations of human rights abuses.<\/p>\n<p>On Friday, the Treasury announced sanctions on 15 individuals and 10 entities from China, North Korea, Bangladesh and Burma. The Department cited connections to \u201chuman rights abuse, including technology-enabled abuse and repression.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Today, on International Human Rights Day, Treasury\u2019s OFAC is designating 15 individuals &amp; 10 entities for their connection to human rights abuse, including technology-enabled abuse, &amp; repression in several countries around the globe.<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/Xh9kSK0sDz\">https:\/\/t.co\/Xh9kSK0sDz<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Treasury Department (@USTreasury) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/USTreasury\/status\/1469331311412359168?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 10, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cOur actions today, particularly those in partnership with the United Kingdom and Canada, send a message that democracies around the world will act against those who abuse the power of the state to inflict suffering and repression,\u201d stated the U.S. Treasury Department.<\/p>\n<p>Among the sanctioned individuals are high-level Chinese Community Party (CCP) officials operating in the Xinjiang region of China and affiliates of North Korea\u2019s cartoon studio, SEK, as well as members of the country\u2019s judicial system.
