The \u201cEmpire\u201d actor had told police that he was attacked by two people who shouted a MAGA slogan at him.<\/p>\n<p>The now-convicted felon and his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/flashback-senator-gillibrand-called-jussie-smollett-incident-sickening-and-outrageous\">allies<\/a> in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/flashback-buttigieg-in-2019-smollett-incident-horrible-attack\">politics<\/a> and media previously used his claim to push forth progressive <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/flashback-kamala-harris-called-jussie-smollett-hoax-a-modern-day-lynching\">social justice issues<\/a> anyway.<\/p>\n<p>Smollett was possibly only practicing what he learned from his mother\u2019s friends \u2014 break the law to advance leftist causes which stoke racial division. By the actor\u2019s own admission, his mother Janet was close with communist Angela Davis.<\/p>\n<p>In a 2016 interview titled, \u201cThe Smollett Family Business: Acting and Activism,\u201d Smollett <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2016\/03\/13\/arts\/television\/the-smollett-family-business-acting-and-activism.html\">told<\/a> the New York Times that his mother was actively involved with militant black activists:<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cMy mom was in the movement with Bobby Seale and Huey Newton, and one of her first mentors was Julian Bond,\u201d Mr. Smollett said of the Black Panther founders and the civil rights leader. \u201cTo this day, Angela Davis is one of her dearest friends. We\u2019ve spent Mother\u2019s Day with Angela.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Seale co-founded the Black Panther movement alongside Newton. Though never convicted of the more serious charges of inciting riots and murder, Seale spent four years in jail after being found in contempt of court in 1969, as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.britannica.com\/biography\/Bobby-Seale\">reported<\/a> by Brittanica.com:<\/p>\n<p><em>In 1969 Seale was indicted in&nbsp;<a class=\"md-crosslink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.britannica.com\/place\/Chicago\">Chicago<\/a>&nbsp;for&nbsp;<a class=\"md-crosslink autoxref\" href=\"https:\/\/www.britannica.com\/topic\/conspiracy\">conspiracy<\/a>&nbsp;to incite riots during the Democratic national convention the previous year.
