Lemon covered the story on his show Thursday after a Chicago jury found the actor guilty on five of six-counts in his hate crime hoax trial.<\/p>\n<p>The anchor called out Smollett for weaving a web of lies and continuing that deceit on the witness stand. His remarks came after Smollett testified it was Lemon who first warned him police did not believe his homophobic, racist, hate crime story.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">.<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CNN?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@CNN<\/a>&#8216;s Don Lemon texted Jussie Smollett? <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/LuIwSmQa0r\">https:\/\/t.co\/LuIwSmQa0r<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Tom Fitton (@TomFitton) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TomFitton\/status\/1467999203192414211?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 6, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<p><strong>\u201cHe had to make up too many lies as to why he didn\u2019t want to do certain things, like to cover,\u201d said the CNN anchor. \u201cI guess he got caught up in that because he took the stand himself. He got angry with the prosecutor as the prosecutor poked holes in his story, calling the only other witnesses liars.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>However, Lemon stopped short of discussing his alleged involvement in the case.
