Chris Christie&nbsp;(R-NJ), in a preview from Friday\u2019s broadcast of PBS\u2019s \u201cFiring Line,\u201d said former President Donald Trump undeniably gave him COVID-19 when they prepped for the first presidential election debate after Trump tested positive.<\/p>\n<p>Hoover said, \u201cYou spent a week in intensive care, battling COVID, and you wrote in your book that it was touch and go for parts \u2014 it could\u2019ve gone either way\u2026I\u2019m glad you made a full recovery. You tested positive three days after the presidential debate between Donald Trump and Joe Biden. And you had been with the president for four days prior to the debate preparing him for the debate. Starting on Sept. 26.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>Christie said, \u201cCorrect.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hoover continued, \u201cAccording to Donald Trump\u2019s Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, in his new book, Trump tested positive for COVID on Sept. 26 \u2014 six days before he revealed that he had been diagnosed with COVID. You said that your wife Mary Pat and you had an \u2018interesting reaction\u2019 when you learned this from Mark Meadows\u2019 book. What was that reaction?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Christie said, \u201cI can\u2019t believe Mark Meadows didn\u2019t tell me.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>Hoover said, \u201cYou didn\u2019t think Trump would have told you?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Christie said, \u201cWell, that\u2019s obvious, of course, Trump should\u2019ve told all of us\u2026Mark should\u2019ve said to all of us, \u2018Hey, the president tested positive for COVID. We\u2019re having another test.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He continued, \u201cHe had an obligation to tell us. To tell us that, \u2018Hey, he tested positive.\u2019 I would\u2019ve worn a mask if I knew that. We knew everybody in that room except for the president was getting tested every day. We didn\u2019t know what the president\u2019s testing regimen was. So, if Mark Meadows knew that somebody that I was sitting across from for four days had popped a positive test, he, as the White House chief of staff \u2014 put aside the president for a second, obviously the president is my friend \u2014 should\u2019ve looked at me and told me that. That\u2019s obvious. But I think what\u2019s less obvious is that Mark Meadows saved this for his book. He saved it for a book. He didn\u2019t tell us. I went into the hospital in the intensive care unit. He didn\u2019t call and tell me.
