Trump\u2019s xenophobic rhetoric and racist policies. This rhetoric continues to bleed into our everyday lives, and this divisive and dangerous behavior needs to stop.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 NAACP (@NAACP) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NAACP\/status\/1090344322090717184?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 29, 2019<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>A Chicago jury found Smollett guilty of five of six counts of felony disorderly conduct on Thursday for faking the hate crime &nbsp;and reporting it to police.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>As Breitbart News <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2019\/01\/29\/naacp-blames-president-donald-trump-for-alleged-racist-homophobic-attack-on-actor-jussie-smollett\/\">reported<\/a> at the time:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"18\">\n<p>The National Association for the Advancement of Colored Persons (NAACP), the country\u2019s most influential civil rights organization, has blamed President Donald Trump for Tuesday morning\u2019s attack on actor Jussie Smollett.<\/p>\n<p>\u2026<\/p>\n<p>NAACP president and CEO Derrick Johnson issued a statement Tuesday afternoon specifically blaming Trump\u2019s \u201cracist and xenophobic rhetoric\u201d:<\/p>\n<p>The recent racist and homophobic attack on acclaimed actor and activist Jussie Smollett is troubling. The rise in hate crimes is directly linked to President Donald J. Trump\u2019s racist and xenophobic rhetoric. It is dangerous for any society to allow a tone of divisiveness and hatred to dominate the political discourse. As this rhetoric continues to bleed into our everyday lives, dangerous behavior will continue to place many law-abiding individuals at risk.
