In this passage from the \u201cFake News Hall of Shame,\u201d you will see how the entirety of the Democrat Media Complex\u2014from Joe Biden to CNN\u2019s media correspondent Brian Stelter\u2014put what was left of their credibility on the line on behalf of the Empire actor, who, as Dave Chappell famously said, \u201cwas clearly lying.\u201d&nbsp;<\/em><em>Enjoy!<\/em><\/p>\n<p>***<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>Over the past half century or so, American law enforcement and popular culture have conferred an extra level of seriousness and gravity to \u201chate crimes\u201d as opposed to regular crimes. The definition of a hate crime, according to the FBI, is a regular crime with an added element of bias. \u201cA \u2018criminal\u2019 offense against a person or property motivated in whole or in part by an offender\u2019s bias against a race, religion, disability, sexual orientation, ethnicity, gender, or gender identity,\u201d the FBI.gov website states.<\/p>\n<p>Hate crimes are sure to grab headlines across international news because the victimhood is <em>doubled<\/em>. The victim was a casualty of whatever crime had been committed, <em>and <\/em>they\u2019re a victim of racism\/sexism\/ homophobia\/bigotry, etc.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Breaking-News-Exposing-Establishment-Corruption\/dp\/1982160748?tag=breitbart035-20\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-16642898\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Marlow-Breaking-the-News-Book-Cover-Full-Resolution-640x966-5.jpg\" alt width=\"257\" height=\"388\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>This explains why the media instantly was whipped up into a frenzy when a gay, black actor was allegedly attacked in Chicago in late January 2019. Jussie Smollett, an actor on the popular Fox show <em>Empire, <\/em>had supposedly been attacked by two men while walking home from a Subway sandwich shop at around 2 a.m. on January 29. According to Smollett\u2019s original report, two white men beat him badly, fractured one of his ribs, and wrapped a noose around his neck (a symbol for lynching). The assailants also allegedly hurled racial and homophobic slurs, asking him if he was \u201cthat f***ot \u2018Empire\u2019 n***er?\u201d They even poured bleach on his dark skin, according to Smollett, in what would have been an unspeakable act of abject racism.<\/p>\n<p>If the attack wasn\u2019t dramatic enough, the two supposedly white attackers were also wearing red \u201cMake America Great Again\u201d hats, the iconic sartorial symbol of Donald Trump supporters. As they left a broken Smollett at the scene, they had supposedly shouted \u201cThis is MAGA country,\u201d despite the fact that they supposedly were in Chicago.<\/p>\n<p>This all happened on one of the coldest nights of the year with an overnight windchill well below zero degrees.<\/p>\n<p>Smollett later posted to his Instagram a photo of himself in a hospital bed, scratched and bruised, providing ample evidence for would-be sup- porters to draw bold conclusions about the veracity of his account.<\/p>\n<p>Smollett\u2019s story was immediately embraced by the media and Holly- wood establishments.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>A gay black man had been a victim of a racist and homophobic attack by Trump supporters! This was way too good to check!<\/p>\n<p>Or was it? Since, of course, this hate crime turned out to be a giant hoax.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>Still, the media was inundated with virtue signaling on behalf of Smollett, accepting his claims wholesale. Some examples out of an infinite list:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Then-senator Kamala Harris (D-CA) tweeted praise for Jussie and called the (hoax) attack \u201can attempted modern day lynching.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>New Jersey senator Cory Booker called the fake attack \u201cvicious\u201d and \u201can attempted modern-day lynching.\u201d He tweeted an endorsement of an \u201canti-lynching\u201d bill in Congress.<\/li>\n<li>The NAACP blamed Donald Trump for the (hoax) attack and a general atmosphere of terror in the United States.<\/li>\n<li>Maxine Waters (D-CA) said she knows and loves Jussie and his family and called him a \u201cfantastic human being.\u201d She suggested President Trump deserved some of the blame.<\/li>\n<li>The <em>New York Times <\/em>took Smollett\u2019s story as gospel, reporting Smollett \u201cwas attacked in Chicago by 2 assailants who yelled racial and homophobic slurs.\u201d Joe Biden quoted the tweet\u2014 uncritically\u2014and predictably added some generic sanctimonious lecturing to Americans about bias: \u201cWe must stand up and demand that we no longer give this hate safe harbor; that homophobia and racism have no place on our streets or in our hearts. We are with you, Jussie.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>CNN\u2019s Don Lemon said in an interview that he texted Smollett every day following the phony attack, asking if he was okay.<\/li>\n<li>Yamiche Alcindor, PBS\u2019s White House correspondent and NBC News fixture, tweeted, \u201cWe have to do better as a country. This is disgusting.\u201d<\/li>\n<li><em>Rolling Stone<\/em>\u2019s Jamil Smith declared the attack \u201cterrorism.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If the journalism class was irresponsible, the celebrity establishment was downright reckless. Transgender nonbinary actor Elliot Page (who at the time was a lesbian actress named Ellen Page), Cher, pop star Katy Perry, actress Olivia Munn, actor Billy Eichner, Rosie O\u2019Donnell, Rob Reiner, <em>Moonlight <\/em>writer\/director Barry Jenkins, <em>Frozen <\/em>actor Josh Gad, <em>Star Trek <\/em>actor George Takei, and many others rushed to defend Smollett and\/or attack MAGA and Trump before the evidence was in.<\/p>\n<p>Nearly all of these reactions were instantaneous, tweeted or grammed soon after initial details emerged, despite the fact that the story\u2019s main sources were Jussie himself and celebrity gossip blog TMZ.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B4\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>Meanwhile, local news reporters were left with little concrete evidence to back up Smollett\u2019s wild story. On January 30, about thirty-six hours after the purported attack, reporter Rob Elgas of ABC 7 Chicago reported that \u201cno obvious people that could be assailants\u201d had been dis- covered by local law enforcement, and that \u201cdetectives have poured [<em>sic<\/em>] over hundreds of hours of surveillance video.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But this still didn\u2019t dissuade the media that Jussie had been victimized.<\/p>\n<p>The <em>Chicago Tribune <\/em>blared a headline that in retrospect looks downright comedic: \u201cWeek before reported attack, Jussie Smollett got threatening letter with \u2018MAGA\u2019 written for return address.\u201d The article details that Smollett was sent a letter filled with white powder that spelled in \u201ccut-out letters\u201d\u2014so corny! \u201cYou will die black f*g,\u201d it allegedly said. The <em>Tribune <\/em>pointed out that the letter was also stamped with American flags.<\/p>\n<p>If this hate crime had been real, it would certainly have been the lamest, most ham-fisted, most uncreative hate crime in American history. As the days wore on and there was still only circumstantial evidence and no credible witnesses to affirm Smollett\u2019s story, he needed to do dam- age control, so, with (crocodile) tears in his eyes, he sat down with Robin Roberts on ABC\u2019s <em>Good Morning America<\/em>. The interview is largely incoherent and borderline embarrassing, but he says he is \u201cpissed off\u201d at his doubters for refusing to see the truth.<\/p>\n<p>Hours later a report emerged that there were two \u201cpersons of interest\u201d in the alleged attack. Charlie De Mar of local Chicago CBS sent a tweet that must have given the Jussie fanboys and girls a cold sweat: \u201cPolice raided the home of two persons of interest in Jussie Smollett case last night. Both men are of Nigerian decent and have appeared as extras on the show. Police took bleach, shoes, electronics and more.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This was the beginning of the end of the latest woke hate hoax.<\/p>\n<p>The two men, brothers who had been background actors on Smollett\u2019s Fox television show, were detained by Chicago police. Police suspected Smollett paid them to stage the attack.<\/p>\n<p>Around this time, social media ramped up its censorship game. Instagram deleted a post by Donald Trump Jr. that was skeptical of Smollett. The Facebook-owned platform later said it was removed \u201cin error.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On February 20, 2019, just three weeks after the alleged incident most definitely did not take place, Jussie Smollett was charged with disorderly conduct and became the suspect in an investigation for filing a false police report.<\/p>\n<p>Still, as of February 20, 20th Century Fox TV and Fox Entertainment still backed Smollett, describing him as a \u201cconsummate professional.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That sentiment didn\u2019t last long, though. Smollett was arrested on February 21. Chicago police superintendent Eddie Johnson said Jussie falsified the hate crime (and the MAGA letter) because \u201che was dissatisfied with his salary\u201d he was earning from <em>Empire<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Fox announced he would no longer appear on the show a day later.<\/p>\n<p>Smollett was eventually indicted for sixteen counts of disorderly conduct by Cook County, all of which were eventually dropped. Joe Magats, an assistant state attorney, did state shortly thereafter that it was not \u201can exoneration.\u201d \u201cWe believe he did what he was charged with doing,\u201d Magats told the local ABC affiliate.<\/p>\n<p>That didn\u2019t stop CNN\u2019s Brian Stelter, host of the ironically named <em>Reliable Sources, <\/em>from suggesting that Jussie was now in fact the \u201cvictim,\u201d concluding that he was \u201ctriumphant\u201d and could return to work on Fox television. Apparently it was wishful thinking on Stelter\u2019s part, as Smollett never did film any new <em>Empire <\/em>episodes.<\/p>\n<p>He was charged for a second time related to the hate crime hoax in February 2020. This time six new charges were brought against him by a special prosecutor.
