Ron DeSantis (R) condemned Democrats\u2019 handling of coronavirus.<\/p>\n<p>While unveiling the state\u2019s Freedom First Budget on Thursday, DeSantis said if things were up to Democrats, the whole state of Florida would have shut down. He added this would cause economic devastation.<\/p>\n<p>DeSantis said time and time again his administration has protected Floridians from losing their jobs, also pointing to his recent effort to block Joe Biden\u2019s OSHA vaccine mandate. He said thanks to efforts from Republican states, there\u2019s no chance Biden\u2019s edict will ever take effect.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOSHA is done, okay? You can take that to the bank,\u201d said the Republican. \u201cThe Sixth Circuit is never going to uphold what OSHA did. They are absolutely going to deep six that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He pointed out the litigation to abolish the OSHA mandate is ongoing and that the mandate would fail even if the case had to go up to the Supreme Court. The governor added the mandate is effectively suspended while a number of states, including Florida, simply refused to enforce it in the first place.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Keeping Florida free has enabled us to protect the jobs and livelihoods of millions of Floridians, keep kids in school and address key priorities through our budget \u2013 all while amassing an historic level of reserves. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/wVMmsUD3Tm\">pic.twitter.com\/wVMmsUD3Tm<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Ron DeSantis (@GovRonDeSantis) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GovRonDeSantis\/status\/1469056097420029954?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 9, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>DeSantis reiterated such a mandate would damage the U.S. economy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe federal government themselves, they\u2019ve pushed back deadlines because they\u2019re faced with potentially losing a lot of employees, and that\u2019s not a good thing to have had happened on your watch,\u201d stated DeSantis. \u201cAnd you look at what\u2019s happening in states that have imposed their own mandates on say nurses, now they\u2019re having to call in the National Guard just to be able to staff the hospitals.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Florida governor went on to explain medical officials are now trying to move the goalposts and change the definition of \u201cfully vaccinated\u201d to include booster shots.
