Rodney Davis (R-IL),&nbsp;would have updated the National Voter Registration Act of 1993 to require states to remove foreign nationals from their voter rolls as part of their regular voter list maintenance program.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>In total, 217 House Democrats voted against the amendment.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cIf we were really here to talk about protecting our democracy then we would focus on the importance of voter rolls list maintenance to ensure only eligible citizens are able to vote in federal elections,\u201d Davis said in a floor speech.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf Democrats were really focused on protecting our democracy, the Biden Justice Department would investigate states like California where the number of registered voters far exceeds the number of adults in the state,\u201d Davis continued.<\/p>\n<p>House Democrats\u2019 blockage of the plan comes on the same night that Democrats on the New York City Council voted to give local election voting rights to nearly one million foreign nationals.<\/p>\n<p>Blue states have a history of foreign nationals on their voter rolls. In 2020, for instance, Illinois officials admitted that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2020\/01\/21\/illinois-non-citizens-voting-did-not-report\/\">nearly 600<\/a> foreign nationals were on the state\u2019s voter rolls. Similarly, in 2018, California\u2019s DMV admitted that it had&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2018\/10\/08\/california-dmv-registered-1500-non-citizens-to-vote-in-2018\/\">registered<\/a>&nbsp;about 1,500 non-eligible voters, including foreign nationals, over six months.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>John Binder is a reporter for Breitbart News.
