She said her plan is to instead run for re-election as attorney general.<\/p>\n<p>James confirmed the move on Thursday, saying she must continue her work as attorney general and \u201cfinish the job.\u201d She cited several important investigations and cases underway.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">I have come to the conclusion that I must continue my work as attorney general. <\/p>\n<p>There are a number of important investigations and cases that are underway, and I intend to finish the job.<\/p>\n<p>I am running for re-election to complete the work New Yorkers elected me to do.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Tish James (@TishJames) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TishJames\/status\/1468988883081830402?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 9, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The move comes as current Gov. Kathy Hochul (D-N.Y.) leads by double-digits in recent polling. Hochul took over as governor after following Andrew Cuomo\u2019s multiple scandals.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe [James] let me know her intention was to remain doing the critically important work that she has undertaken in the attorney general\u2019s office,\u201d said Hochul. \u201cAll I can say is that I respect her tremendously, always have.
