Ron DeSantis (R) criticized Democrat lawmakers Thursday, asserting they are in favor of people \u201closing their jobs\u201d over vaccine mandates after they refused to support legislation providing protections for U.S. workers.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on the state\u2019s \u201cFreedom First Budget\u201d in&nbsp;Tallahassee, Florida, DeSantis spoke about the recent special session in Florida and the legislation passed, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/11\/18\/gov-desantis-signs-legislation-protecting-florida-jobs-against-vaccine-mandates\/\">providing<\/a> protections for workers who face losing their jobs over vaccine mandates.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cJust think if we had not done that, the destruction that would have happened, the unemployment we would see. I think every Democrat in the Senate voted against that. They were all in favor of people losing their jobs \u2014 cops, firefighters, people that work for private businesses, nurses,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou\u2019re seeing what\u2019s happening in these other states,\u201d he continued, noting the media does not cover Delta waves when it is in the north \u2014 only the South or Florida.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou\u2019re really seeing huge hospitalization numbers, and a lot of these hospitals are short staffed, because they\u2019ve actually laid off nurses. So we stood up for those folks, and we\u2019ve been able to save and protect more jobs than anybody\u2019s ever been able to do because of the circumstances we found ourselves in,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>His remarks come one day after Senate Democrats overwhelmingly voted against blocking Biden\u2019s vaccine mandate on private employers. It passed in the Senate&nbsp;52-48, with Democrat Sens. Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Jon Tester (D-MT) joining Republicans.<\/p>\n<p>DeSantis added that Democrats are supporting \u201cinflationary policies\u201d which are \u201cdriving up the cost of gas, they\u2019re driving up the cost of groceries, [and] they\u2019re pinching people\u2019s family budget.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Florida Gov.
