The restrictions, which came in response to a spike in COVID-19 cases in Germany, bar unvaccinated people from nonessential shops and certain other venues, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/beinglibertarian\/photos\/a.247308808808495\/1856259384580088\/?type=3&amp;theaterhttps:\/\/www.facebook.com\/beinglibertarian\/photos\/a.247308808808495\/1856259384580088\/?type=3&amp;theater\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">BBC News<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n<p>However, the picture was actually taken in Latvia, not Germany. Through a reverse image search, Check Your Fact traced the photo back to Latvian right-wing politician Aldis Gobzems\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/photo.php?fbid=416395539881762&amp;set=pb.100045339577769.-2207520000..&amp;type=3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Oct. 13 Facebook post<\/a>, where he explained his wife had a QR code and he did not. Signage visible in the photo posted by Gobzems features Latvian writing.<\/p>\n<p>Gobzems has participated in protests against mandatory COVID-19 vaccination, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/eng.lsm.lv\/article\/society\/society\/hundreds-protest-against-mandatory-vaccination-in-latvia.a415657\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">English-language website<\/a> of Latvia\u2019s public broadcasting service.&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2020\/05\/06\/fact-check-video-boris-johnson-journalists-tea-recovering-coronavirus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Does This Video Show Boris Johnson Giving Journalists Tea After Recovering From COVID-19?)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Nonessential Latvian businesses such as restaurants, movie theaters and gyms can only be accessed by those who are either vaccinated against COVID-19 or have recovered from the disease, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/lv.usembassy.gov\/covid-19-information\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">U.S. Embassy in Latvia\u2019s website<\/a>.
